okay listen… Fitzjames would obviously want desperately to be the hero in his story but let’s be real he’s the one who ends up cursed (see: scurvy) and Crozier ends up his grumbling, reluctant hero, and they undertake some kind of harrowing quest together and bicker and fall in love along the way (so basically canon) except whatever answer/cure/way to break the curse they sought turns out to be useless and the Real Cure was the True Love that was there All Along
@glomofnit gorgeous. makes me think of the classic Penelope ending, which, if you’ve not seen the movie, involves the titular character breaking her own curse by learning to Love Herself--which francis would help james to do, of course, through his acceptance and steadfast friendship.
(they’ve been in love this whole time, naturally; but as we know, francis keeps his feelings close to the vest; and james breaks his own curse long before francis gets around to kissing him <3)
