id like to take a moment to consider how glaggle reproduction works. because. like. the glooble page (a glooble is a baby glaggle) states that glaggles are born when two (2) glaggles mate with each other and produce a litter (see below)
the problem being,
you could argue that there's a distinction between 'gigglers' and 'glaggles', but the thing is that a giggler (jucundus proscharos of the class glagglidae) is a (very major, practically the face of the class) part of the class 'glaggle' (glagglidae).
so. so whats the truth. id assume that there shouldnt be much disjoint here as the two pages holding these 'facts' (glooble and giggler) should be some of the most viewed on glagglepedia, but here we are
even more confusing, trusted sources such as the glaggleland times (i forget exactly where) state that glaggles are created via human intervention(???) with like a yellow ball and marker n shit. humans on glagworld (allegedly only being there during the paleoglag era??) is a whole other complication that im not sure im qualified to talk about because i havent read much up on glagworld history but i feel like that's irrelevant
i suppose you could say that gigglers just have a difference in them specifically that causes them to mitose that the other main glaggle species (the genus jecundus) dont have but youd expect something more genetically similar to mention mitosing and luckily we do have a evolutionary tree for jecundus that shows:
evolutionarily the closest thing to a giggler is a glaaber, which also evolved from the gobbler but if you go to the glaaber's page youll find that it doesnt talk about mitosis at all
HOWEVER while researching this i found myself on the page for the whimperer (the sobber form of a glaaber (sobbers being glaggles deficient in vitamin j (an important vitamin that contributed to paleoglag success and results in the glaggle's joyousness and bright color))) and found that it?? does mention mitosis????
and it says similar to the other sad glaggle mutation which implies that mitosis is the standard for glaggle society, bringing into question:
what in the name of the peripheral glag is the glooble article talking about when it mentions litters and pairs??? i suppose its entirely possible that glaggles have societal norms that cause them to reproduce in pairs but thats unlikely i feel
both the whimperer page and glooble page have the canon tag and not the work in progress or due for rewrite tags so we can assume that the information they hold is final.
whatever maybe im just looking too far into a tiny plot hole in a piece of fiction that was never meant to be taken seriously but like cmon i cant be the only person at all interested in glaggle reproduction right guys right? right? cmon
tl;dr, the biological aspect of glaggleland is poorly elaborated on and it confuses me, who is also very much not a biologist
if this post made you think anything say smth in the comments or reblags id love to hear other opinions
