Local loser Alice Roanoke is woefully unpopular, a bit of a crybaby, and painfully unassertive. Her life is a living hell thanks to the rumor that her mom is having an affair with one of the teachers. Things aren't much better at home: her younger brother Philip runs hot & cold, while her critical mother Elaine will do all but spare a kind word. Then there’s her terminally distant father, Jason. Alice spends most of her time alone working on personal projects. She almost gave up hope before the new kid Wacleah moved to town. With someone less judgmental to help shoulder her emotional burdens, it seems like things might finally turn around for Alice.
