the biggest problem he had run into with genevieve and her family being here was the language barrier. it was troubling at times, trying to get their points across without frustrating one another if their boys or genevieve wasn’t around. ned had learned bits and pieces of the language when they were younger but as he had grown, he had forgotten much of what he learned. however, the more they spoke it around him, the more he began to remember what genevieve had taught him all those years ago. hearing it every day, putting it into context helped as well.

ned had been surprised when his own children picked it up so quickly but then he reminded himself that he had done the same thing when he was younger, listening to genevieve’s parents chat with one another, picking up words and phrases. and now, many years later, it was her husband that he was speaking with. 

“genevieve řekl malujete... and i know you’re not anywhere near your home but...” ned opened the door to one of the smaller rooms that they didn’t really use that had more natural light then what he realized before catelyn mentioned something. “you can use...uh... tento pokoj se malovat if you wish. there’s some paints and canvas.” ned gestured to what sat on the small table. “pro tebe.”
