Glory: 2
‘’African fashion’’ is alive! Breathing gloriously. As I research and discover, I realise that I fell subject to the same ignorance and lack of awareness I was trying to challenge. The problem is not that African fashion is dimensionless - it couldn’t be further from it! The problem lies with the platform afforded to the ‘’African’’ culture of fashion and consequently, our designers. Many designers are rising and gaining international recognition, my favourite at the moment being Loza Maleombho. But there are undoubtedly many under the radar, non-existent to the non-African and African.
I am revising Glory to focus majorly on main streaming. If ‘’African fashion’’ features gloriously in all elements of daily life (as opposed to just special functions, tumblr and instagram) then perhaps the African Glory will be widely accepted as not ‘’African fashion’’, but FASHION.
