Emerald eyes widened when the tiny stuffed bear was snatched from her hands.  The woman’s back now turned to her in an attempt to hide what had already been seen.   

“Cassss!” Rapunzel giggled with a new resolve to get a better look at it!  “It’s sooo cute!”  She stepped up on to her tip toes to see over the slightly taller girl’s shoulder.  

“And it looks a bit worn ....   was this a toy from your childhood?  Was it from the Captain???”

The Princess very well knew Cassandra didn’t like talking about her past much, especially when it came to EMOTIONAL things.

  So she didn’t think she’d get an answer out of her right away, maybe never --- but she still WANTED to ask.   

“Does it ..... sleep with you in your bed?”

     Had she truly believed that?  Fingers reached to wrap around the handle of his sword as she spoke.   ❝ Cassandra - ❞  Her name had felt like venom on his tongue;  feet shifting to keep the distance between them.   ❝ She trusted you... ❞  He had learned over time to let his guard down around the other;  Rapunzel had tried her best to unite the frenemies and over time he admits her had grown to like the other.  The woman standing in front of him now wasn’t the same one he had grown accustomed to.

      Rapunzel’s trust was a fragile concept;  there was only one other confidant she held close to her heart aside from the former thief and he knew it was her.  The friendship bracelets, the paintings in her room, and the countless doodles in her diary,  all of which had grown since the disappearance of the other.  He hated seeing them like this.  He would do anything to ease the princesses mind but it was quite the impossible mission. 

       ❝ Fine,  you have my attention.  Now what? ❞  Teeth grit as he locks eyes with the others.  What brought her to this?  A part of him hated that he couldn’t have stopped it from happening but fate had other plans.   ❝ You would risk  EVERYTHING  for this? ❞  They hadn’t known very much of the moonstone aside from what the scroll had shown.  A stone that had been the very demise of his own mother.   ❝ You don’t know what the stone could do to you? ❞  

        All were questions he knew to be racking the blondes mind yet she wouldn’t share that not even with him.  Was there even an ounce left of the Cass they once knew?  Shoulders tense as his gaze falls to the stone... they should have destroyed it when they had the chance.
