I have a bit of a spoonie question for you, as an ankle brace wearer - my ankles start to hurt any time I'm on my feet for more than 20min or so. It feels like bone scraping bone, if that makes sense? If for some reason I'm not able to get off my feet, the pain will keep mounting until everything from my feet to my shoulderblades hurts and I feel like I'm about to pass out. Do you think braces would help with this? What braces are your favorite/least favorite and why? Thank you for your time! :)
This sounds similar to what I experience so braces likely would help.
Personally, I prefer lace-up ankle braces because they allow me to better fit the braces to my ankles (which can be tough because I have big feet and big calves but super narrow ankles).
The specific ankle braces I use are Shock Doctor brand and I got them at a sporting goods store. This is a link to them on Amazon. They’ve held up well and definitely help reduce ankle pain for me as well as reducing knee and hip pain.
I personally don’t like braces that just have velcro straps as I’ve found that they tend to come undone easily and don’t provide enough support for me.
