Here comes our regional bug (and the first fakemon I’ve created specifically for this project) Buglitt!

It’s based both on common glowworm larva and ladybug larva, which look very similar (glowworm larvae are flat, ladybug larvae are spiky). I will always be really salty about Blipbug’s design because it Does Not do ladybug larvae justice; I’ve always found them really cool looking, so this is my chance to show Game Freak how it’s done.

Buglitt stunning its prey is based on how glowworm larvae will paralyse snails before eating them, though they use toxins rather than a tiny light display.

Name inspo: Bug + lit + lette (suffix for implying smallness)

Lucifly, the evolution of larvaelamp and buglitt’s final evolution!

Did you know only male common glowworms have wings? But after Cindeer and Muntjacked’s sexual dimorphism drained me for life, I’m don’t think I’m going to be doing anymore gender variants any time soon.

A lot of its pokedex entry is inspired by me realising that I, an epileptic person, would never be able to go near it (or the rest of its evolutionary line) for my own safety, which is a real shame because I love Buglitt. I have this mental image of my family and friends desperately trying to hold me back as I try to go pet this little glowing bug.
