♠ - What are they afraid of?
There isn’t much for an archangel to be afraid of; an immortal, omniscient being can evade death, sickness, and menial causes which often invoke fear. To be afraid is such a broad spectrum, as it can defer to something as cataclysmic and life-changing as terminal acceptance or a phobia of spiders. Canonically, Gabriel’s nightmares have always been based around family; he’s terrified of his brothers, he hates that war has broken out, that his family has been torn apart by it; he feels helpless and knows that he alone would have never been enough- which is part of the reason why he left. To seek answers- because he could not stand to see his brothers and sisters at each others’ throats. He was also afraid of being pulled into the middle of it. Of having to choose a side between Michael and Lucifer (afraid of them on some level; hesitant; for obvious reasons, as they are considerably stronger than himself)—- and knowing deep down that his inevitable choice would probably get him killed. I feel that Gabriel has always been a humanist- in the years leading up to the Apocalypse after spending a millennium on Earth, among people- despite showing off an attitude that would speak otherwise- he’s the angel of vengeance…. so smiting the wicked is sort of his thing, y’know? His morality chart is pretty black and white. It follows perhaps, a fairly archaic standard, but when taken into account the things he himself have done/been involved in, Judgment really boils down to the reflection of character and the value of said character; how they treat others, or whether or not they’re a general dickbag. My Gabriel somewhat deviates from canon-not by much but all the same. Purgatory has really instilled a lot of different aversions, caused him to reevaluate some things; Leviathan for one- with having to fight them constantly for what felt like centuries, an Archangel in Purgatory would draw them like moths to a bug light- he’s had to reconsider his stance. They nearly tore his wings off; almost succeeded, and have left him emotionally scarred, he vehemently hates them- and on a subconscious level… fears them.
Lucifer is another whom he uses caution around; he doesn’t particularly fear him but he’s aware of what the elder is capable of- therefore Gabriel is usually on game whenever he’s dealing with him. Michael too. Neither of them can fully be trusted, not now, not after what happened, especially after what happened, his defenses are always going to be up and his suspicion pinioned, angel blade close at hand. Despite how much he loves them both (even after Lucifer drove a sword through his heart), he’s wary to be around them.

gluttonousking 's leviathan is absolutely terrifying. They know how to write the beast so that you wonder if that creak you heard was truly just the house settling and not anything else. The mun is also super friendly and just generally amazing. They're wonderful and very talented.
