The thing about getting into studying the ancient greek mythos and religion behind it, is that you get to learn about things and connections that don't make it into the modern media.
Take Hermes and Hestia's connection to one another.
Everyone knows that Hestia is the goddess of the home and hearth, but Hermes, as the god of travellers and thieves, was also seen as a god of hospitality, specifically the protector of the home, the guy people prayed to and even erected small shrines to on their doorsteps to protect their homes and avert thieves, giving him a direct connection to Hestia.
(Hermes was also seen as the god of guard dogs, both of herds and homes)
There is also the fact that both Hermes and Hestia were seen as the gods responsible for the preparation of feasts.
And this is so fascinating to me but also makes me regret that this doesn't make it into modern media.
Like, there is so much potential for stories and character interactions here???
Hermes being super protective of his aunt, him being furious over the Priapus incident, him standing behind Hestia while glaring at anyone who enter her residence and seem even slightly suspicious like those overprotective dogs with their owners.
The 2 of them cooking together, Hermes constantly crashing at her place (even travellers need a home to rest in, more symbolism) and Hestia appreciating having his company.
Seriously, this is a gold mine of opportunities, get on it people!
