Face to Face
In recent years one of the most interesting new technological breakthroughs in communication has been real time face to face video chat. Despite there being several big company's with applications to allow this kind of communication namely Skype, Apple's FaceTime, and Google+'s "hangout", the technology is still fairly limited.
Video chat eliminates one of the biggest cons of the new online world as it allows users to converse "in person" without being "in person". This is an important distinction between regular phone or IM conversations and it requires a higher level of communication skills as people can now see your facial expressions, dress, and environment.
So the technology piece is there, but how do we make it better? I believe there should be a universal program or "app" that isn't limited to one brand of phone or website. To make it even easier to access this technology, all carriers should allow video chat connects on their 3G or 4G networks so that a wireless connection isn't required.
