How much connection is too much?
Mass media has completely changed the entire campaigning process. Voters now have access to way more information and advertising which has both positive and negative effects. In some ways, access to more information means sifting through more political slander and misleading information. Advertising is generally geared more at attacking opponent than talking about actual political policies and platforms.
It's easy to completely dismiss the entire election process and become discouraged from voting. I think a large contributing factor to voter apathy is that people are overwhelmed by all of the information out there. Instead of tuning into one or two debates or speeches, we are constantly connected to the election during election time. How can we tell what's relevant?
