Seeing as USDM GM Coach literature pricing has gone through the roof as of late (I watched a Buffalo coach brochure bring over $200 last week), I’m turning my attention to a different subject: the General Motors Diesel Division of Canada Limited, or GMDD. Responsible for building buses, trains, earthmovers, military equipment, and beyond, GMDD is perhaps one of the coolest divisions in GM history -- even though only real transportation geeks are the only ones who really remember it. I’ve been lucky enough to come across some vintage GMDD literature, but as is the case with any addiction, it ain’t enough. In any case, I’d love to acquire more vintage GMDD stuff for my collection. If you have any you’d be willing to part with, reach out and ping me.

In 1959, the TTC purchased their first batch of General Motors' "New Look" buses. Orders continued through the 1960s to 1983. It is arguably the most recognisable bus in Toronto, and shares status with the PCC streetcars and the Gloucester subway cars. December 16, 2011, is supposed to be the final day of service for the remaining seven or eight GM buses. Pictured is number 2290, a T6H-5307N model built in September 1982.
