Okay but the animal crossing post just made me remember that I use to headcannon Butch as a genderfluid/bigender butch as a kid, + I'm starting to think that was in part projection of my own masculine/gnc femininity + not only because it's her name lol (I honestly don't even remember their canonical gender anymore because of how strong the hc was either...)

Headcanon accepted.

It's always bothered me that Animal Crossing personalities are gender-exclusive. I've been playing the games since the GCN release, and at no point have I ever not wanted a Cranky butch villager.

My family/parents might have a sort of implicit rule that men's clothing when your afab are only for cool prints +/ as a last resort, but I'm too scared to actually find out if that's my autism adding fake rules or not lol. They did feel the need to apologize to me the one time we had to buy something from that section though, which is kinda dumb ngl.

I don't think you're adding fake rules, anon! Gender conformers, and gender-conforming cishets especially, are prone to making up rules and exceptions like this so they don't have to think too hard about gender roles and how they fit into them.

That post I made about my mother is especially ironic, because despite all the effort she puts into it, she doesn't really perform femininity very well. Given her background, it's a survival mechanism for her.

Masculine women with "dainty" features, rosy cheeks, red lips, or a lot of curves are just as masculine as women without those features. It's society's fault for not seeing that, not yours.

Feminine men with a strong brow/nose/jawline, broad shoulders, a deep voice, or 5 o'clock shadow are just as feminine as men without those features. It's society's fault for not seeing that, not yours.

GNC nonbinary folk with androgynous features or features associated with a gender they are aligned with are just as GNC as nonbinary folks without those features. It's society's fault for not seeing that, not yours.
