Bocian biały

Bocian biały jest jednym z najbardziej rozpoznawalnych gatunków wśród polskich ptaków. Dorosłe osobniki charakteryzują się czerwonym i długim dziobem i tej samej barwy nogami. Czerwony kolor tych części ciała pojawia się u nich w miarę dorastania, wypierając obecne od urodzenia ubarwienie czarne. Warto także zwrócić uwagę na szczególną budowę ich stawu piętowego, która umożliwia im długotrwałe stanie w miejscu na jednej nodze bez utraty równowagi. Dorosły bocian biały waży średnio 4 kg, a długość jego ciała wynosi 80 cm. Rozpiętość skrzydeł sięga około 2 m, zaś dziób mierzy do 20 cm.

Bocian biały to gatunek wędrowny. Lęgi odbywa w Europie, zimuje zaś w Afryce Północnej i Południowej. Według statystyk co piąty bocian biały przyszedł na świat w Polsce. Zasięg jego lęgowisk sprawia, że Polskę określa się jako centralny punkt jego występowania – bociany można spotkać w zasadzie wszędzie, oprócz gór. Najwięcej bocianów gniazduje na północnym wschodzie Polski – na Mazurach, czy na Suwalszczyźnie. Oprócz naszego kraju, tego charakterystycznego ptaka można spotkać także w Niemczech, Austrii, u naszych południowych sąsiadów – w Czechach i na Słowacji – a także na Litwie, Łotwie, Ukrainie i Białorusi. Licznie występuje także w Turcji, Syrii i w zachodniej części Rosji. Bardzo nieliczne populacje obserwuje się czasem w Hiszpanii. Zwykle na zimowiska bociany białe wylatują pod koniec sierpnia i trasa ich wędrówki wiedzie przez Bałkany, cieśninę Bosfor, do Egiptu i dalej na południe Afryki.

The White Stork

The white stork is one of the most recognizable species among Polish birds. Adults are characterized by a red and long beak and legs of the same color. The red color of these body parts appears in them as they grow up, replacing the black coloration present from birth. It is also worth paying attention to the special structure of their heel joint, which allows them to stand still on one leg for a long time without losing balance. An adult white stork weighs on average 4 kg, and its body length is 80 cm. The wingspan reaches about 2 m, and the beak measures up to 20 cm.

The white stork is a migratory species. It breeds in Europe and winters in North and South Africa. According to statistics, every fifth white stork was born in Poland. The range of its breeding grounds means that Poland is considered the central point of its occurrence - storks can be found practically everywhere, except for the mountains. The largest number of storks nest in north-eastern Poland - in Masuria or in the Suwałki region. Apart from our country, this characteristic bird can also be found in Germany, Austria, our southern neighbours - the Czech Republic and Slovakia - as well as in Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine and Belarus. It is also found in large numbers in Turkey, Syria and the western part of Russia. Very small populations are sometimes observed in Spain. White storks usually fly to their wintering grounds at the end of August and their migration route leads through the Balkans, the Bosphorus Strait, to Egypt and further to the south of Africa.

We had some spare time before the shooting started today so I found this somewhat posh place for breakfast. Only that when we got there, the waiting line was huge. At least ten people were waiting to be seated! So we just went inside the closest cafe we could find. And boy that was such a lucky accident. This place is the bomb. I have never been excited about eggs in my life but this place made be thinking about these eggs the whole day. If you ever go to Wroclaw you must try their stuff! (not an ad or something, I am seriously fangirling over Eggs Benedict)
