Zamek krzyżacki, Golub-Dobrzyń Część 2 z 2: Rozwój, przebudowy i rola historyczna

The Castle of the Teutonic Order, Golub-Dobrzyń, Poland Part 2 of 2: Development, Reconstruction, and Historical Role
Golub Castle was the site of numerous historical events and reconstructions. In the 15th century, after the Second Peace of Toruń in 1466, the stronghold came under Polish administration, which changed its status and function.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, the castle began to undergo Renaissance and Baroque renovations, introducing decorative elements and more comfortable rooms. Of particular significance was the period when the castle served as the summer residence of Anna Vasa, sister of King Sigismund III Vasa, who initiated the Renaissance reconstruction, adding turrets, decorative attics, and larger windows.
In modern times, the castle lost its military significance, becoming a more representative residence and cultural venue.
Today, Golub-Dobrzyń is famous for hosting the International Knights' Tournament, which takes place in the castle courtyard, attracting tourists and history buffs. The castle is one of the most important monuments in the region, combining medieval architecture with the rich history of Poland and the Teutonic Order.
