a memory that makes them feel guilty

more guilt? well then, she supposes she’s a little guilty over the situation with her step-dad. as much as she wants to love him, as much as she’s grateful for everything he’s done for her, she still can’t find it in herself to consider him a father. he’s like a.... middle-aged pal of hers, a buddy that helps her out. he’s an elder, a mentor maybe, but not a dad. she makes the effort, when she can. heck she sees him one on one more often than she does her own mother (there’s some unspoken bad blood there, don’t ask), so she really does want to be that daughter for him. she hopes to get there one day but right now she just... can’t.

“you all really want to know a lot of things about my friends, huh?” minhyung laughs – he doesn’t blame them, they’re much more interesting than he’ll ever be, anyway. “this one time, sori, sunggeun, and i snuck in food into the practice room back when we were trainees. we weren’t supposed to do that – i was trying to tell them we weren’t supposed to do that, but we did it anyway. we didn’t get caught somehow, but we ate to the point that we couldn’t really dance anymore that day. the trainer got really mad at us, and later that night when we got home, we just talked about how it was ridiculous for him to get mad at us for eating.” he smiles, shaking his head at the memory – they were so young and stupid back then.

he pushes open the door to the shop expecting to see youngwoon there and instead is greeted by a much prettier face ( not that youngwoon isn’t good looking, but the girl’s big eyes and soft features are such a contrast to the man’s harsh angles and constant frown ). it stops him in his tracks but only just for a moment. sebin’s not one to stop and stare.

is it disappointment, or excitement? he’s not sure. on one hand, there’s no way he’ll be able to finesse his way to free new strings for his guitar ( one snapped, damn thing; the reason sebin stopped by the store in the first place ). youngwoon’s a good friend, maybe he would’ve at least given him a discount. on the other, though, the girl is lovely.

sebin wanders around the store for a moment, playing with items here and there, picking up a piano book and putting it back down. he just needs a string, why’s he doing this? finally he breaks his silent browsing, looking at the girl and smiling kindly. “do you work here because you like music? or was it just a convenient job?” it’s supposed to be friendly, a conversation starter.
