Torpado sport 1961

Today we started restoring a Torpado sport from 1961. It's probably the oldest bicycle we've worked on, it's really beautiful and elegant, but it needs a little tlc. The components are interesting; the quick-release on the rear hub reads "Made in Italy Gnutti Lic Campagnolo", the Campagnolo Sport rear derailleur has a single pulley, and the Gnutti head and crankset are branded Torpado. The frame has internal gear cable ruoting starting at the gear shifter and finishing almost at the right rear dropout. The steer tube lugs, fork crown, ends and dropouts and the back half of the rear triangle are all chromed. We'll be back later with some photos of the finished product. 

  Oggi abbiamo iniziato il restauro conservativo di una Torpado sport del 1961, probabilmente la più vecchia su cui abbiamo mai lavorato, una bici davvero bella ed elegante che aveva bisogno di un  po' di cura e attenzione. La lista dei componenti è interessante, su tutti lo sgancio del mozzo posteriore che reca la scritta "Gnutti Made in Italy Lic. Campagnolo",  il cambio Campagnolo Sport a puleggia singola, la serie sterzo e la guarnitura Gnutti marchiate Torpado. Il telaio ha il passaggio di cavo e guaina del cambio interni, dal manettino fino a quasi la fine del fodero destro, cromature sulle congiunzioni dello sterzo, testa e punte della forcella, forcellini e parte del carro posteriore. Ci riaggiorniamo al più presto con qualche immagine della bici finita.
