Real talk. Go-Daiko Con isn't the con for you if you live far away. The price per badge is steep at 45 bucks, renting a dealer's booth practically robs you, and the entire con is literally just a few hallways. I go every year because it's close by and it gives me an excuse to not be cooped up in the house.
However, I will give the con this much. Staff, from what I've seen at least, specifically security ops, was incredible. They didn't take any shit.
At the rave, a couple of people were trying to bring drinks in, and from what I've seen, they were staffers, and the security op guy at the time basically told them "I don't give a shit if they are staff, no alcohol under any circumstance."
Also, there was this one Luffy cosplayer, who apparently had some sort of mental disability, that was allowed to basically run rampant throughout panels. I was in one of the panels he was in. An improv panel. He could have seriously hurt some of the actors involved. He left bruises, practically groped an audience member, and almost broke one of the actor's neck because they were both on a chair and fell off.
He was reported to staff, and they took care of the matter immediately. None of this "let's see what he does next" bullshit, they took care of it as soon as it was brought up.
So bravo Go-Daiko, you don't have your head completely up your ass.
