New Fic Sneak-Peek #1

I’m SUPER excited to finally start showing snippets of the collaborative fic @vivi-theakuneko and I have been working on for a few weeks now!  It’s a Human AU set in the world of her 4oK ‘verse (wherein each version of Crowley/Aziraphale - Book, Radio, TV, and Movie - are siblings).

For a bit of name-related context (since this is a Human AU and they can’t ALL be called Crowley...) Book = Anthony

Radio = Peter

TV = Arin

Movie = Johnny

Living out in the middle of the English countryside made it a little hard to get a good TV signal most of the time.  On rare days when the stars aligned, a show or movie would come through with perfect colour and clarity.  On those days, all four of them would gather around the telly to watch whatever it was that the Gods of Cable saw fit to bless them with, regardless of whether it was fit for children or not.

It’s not like their parents cared about such things.

Today’s movie appeared to be about battles in space or something (Arin had been the one to come across it while looking for cartoons, and the movie had already been about 20 minutes in so they missed quite a bit of opening exposition) and looked to have been made a bit before their time.  The acting was hammy, and some of the effects were clumsy, but that mattered little to four children who sat enraptured in front of the screen.

Well, one of them did.

Peter’s nose was practically pressed against the glass as he stared wide-eyed at the pitched battle going on inside the Death Star between Vader and Luke.  His favorite character so far had been Boba Fett, but this Vader guy was definitely a close second!

Anthony - the oldest of the four at a respectable eight years - sat to his right and blinked sleepily as he gave Johnny, the youngest, his bottle for the evening.  The bottle had actually been emptied around the same time Han ended up frozen, but Johnny had continued teething at the lid.  Every so often he made a displeased little noise and tried to squirm away from the coarse texture of Anthony’s sweater.  His brother, in turn, simply hugged him closer.  Anthony always felt so cold, and was therefore reluctant to relinquish a potential source of body heat.

Onscreen, Vader lopped off Luke’s hand with the crackling buzz of his lightsaber and Peter practically jumped up with a whoop of excitement.  On his other side, to his left, Arin had already gotten restless and was trying to sneak away so he could go play in the garden.  Before he could get far, Peter’s larger hand closed around the back of his hoodie and kept him in place.

“Wanna go out,” Arin huffed, his bright red curls bouncing around his head as he tried to wriggle free.

“You can’t,” Anthony replied with a yawn. “Or you’re gonna get me ‘n Peter in trouble again.”

Arin, being three and therefore not understanding the concept of “consequences”, renewed his struggles to get free.  Peter simply tightened his grip, his eyes never once leaving the screen.

When the penultimate moment of the film arrived, when Vader delivered the world-shattering line, “I am your father!”, Peter gasped out loud at the same time Arin began howling about how he wanted to go outside.

Suddenly, Peter pitched to the side as the toddler he’d been attempting to restrain managed to successfully wriggle out of his hoodie to make a break for the door.  He scrambled after him with a frustrated cry of, “Arin!”

A wordless bark of an angry shout rang out from somewhere deeper in the house, accompanied by the sound of something glass smashing against a wall.  Arin froze in place by the door, his small body trembling.  It was clear he didn’t want to go outside anymore.  Peter gently began tugging Arin’s hoodie back down over his head, accidentally floofing up his curls as he did.  The smaller of the two’s eyes were still downcast, even as his older brother helped him straighten out the wrinkles on his clothing.

“See? D’you still wanna go out?” he asked quietly.

Arin shook his head.

“No…”

“‘S okay, freckles,” Peter said softly. “C’mon, let’s watch cartoons.” He put an arm around him and led him back to where the other two sat.

Johnny began fussing at the noise from outside the room, so Anthony reached over to turn up the volume on the telly to drown the worst of it out and to calm his brother, who’d always been soothed by loud, non-shouty sounds.  Sure enough, Johnny’s sniffling stopped and he turned back to watching the colorful lights on the screen.  

They all did, deciding to take for themselves a moment of peace.

There were always so few of them.

Aaaah I know I haven't been very active on social media but actually you guys have no idea how much I am vibrating right now. I really really want to show you guys what project I am working on, but I have to wait until October to fully put it on display.

Maybe there will be some sneak peaks before that, but still...

All I can say is that if you are into Fantasy settings, then you might want to keep an eye out for this!

Out of the four of them, Crowley is the shortest, but he's also technically the oldest. Do you think think AJ, JC, and Tony tease him about about it? (I'm also the oldest and my siblings are taller than me XD )

Crowley is denied amusement park ride:

Operator: I'm sorry you aren't tall enough

Crowley: *offended gasp* I am 170!

Operator:... doesn't look like it.

Toni: sorry for my son. But can you make an exception? It's his life long dream to be on the flying ducky.

Crowley goes to J.C's nightclub:

Bouncer: Go home kid, you are not old enough.

Crowley: I'll have you know I am a full grown adult. I have an ID!

Bouncer: Obviously fake.

J.C walks out.

Crowley: J.C! Brother! He won't let me in!

J.C: Go home, kid.

You remember how TV and Script Zira has their almost crying moments? (Both when they were about to split with Crowley) How would the others handle North and South just straight up sobbing? (To a sad romance movie probably. Or how super adorable a trinket looks XP)

This is no joke (but also a joke?): I told my friends that they have a button that they smash in case of emergency, which will make blankets and pillows appear and cocoa? comfort food? I don’t know but basically it’s emergency comfort and cuddle space. The joke is that they have it for the Crowleys (the button says “In case of emergency snek sobbing”), but I guess sometimes they can use it for each other too.

I am not sure if this is canon but it is what I came up with after reading your ask, anon XD
