As per details from the 2011 Census, Goa has a population of 14.59 Lakhs, an increase from the figure of 13.48 Lakh in the 2001 census. The total population of Goa as per the latest census data is 1,458,545 of which males and females 739,140 and 719,405 respectively. In 2001, the total population was 1,347,668 which males were 687,248 while females were 660,420. The total population growth in this decade was 8.23 percent while in the previous decade, it was 14.89 percent. The population of Goa formed 0.12 percent of India in 2011. In 2001, the figure was 0.13 percent.
Goa Literacy Rate 2023 The literacy rate in Goa has seen an upward trend and is 88.70 percent as per the latest population census. Of that, male literacy stands at 92.65 percent while female literacy is at 84.66 percent. In 2001, the literacy rate in Goa stood at 82.01 percent of which males and females were 88.42 percent and 75.37 percent literate respectively.
In actual numbers, the total literates in Goa stand at 1,165,487 of which males were 615,823 and females were 549,664.
