I officially decided while in the car on the way to the suburbs...
...that I am going to train for some 5k in the late winter/early spring, then use that momentum to train for the Protect Children America Wrigley Start Early 10k.
I hate running with a passion but a) I need to get into a shape that isn't round b) I care a lot about the work that PCA does and I think the run is a great way to support it c) I want to be able to say I can and have run a 5/10k.
let me clarify why this is impressive.
I hate running. actually, I fucking hate running. it is one of my least favorite things. part of the appeal of hockey for me was that it contained 0% running. I have not run more than about a mile at once before. I am not joking. I will literally be doing a couch to 5k. I am not excited. but I am determined.
and now that this is on tumblr, I must stick to it.
ugh.
