MUN! Drop how you do the goblin language! And my life is yours! (In all seriousness if you don’t want to thats cool. Im just curious in how you made it)
[OOC]
OH, BOY I'VE BEEN WANTING FOR SOMEONE TO ASK ME THIS---
Alright, I'll explain some basic stuff and how do I manage this. It'll go under the cut because IT'S A LOT---
First of all, my bases are these [1] [2] [3] [4] pages.
What I do is this: There are A BUNCH of grammatical rules and stuff that... Doesn't really exist on these pages, so I had to create them MYSELF. I do use most of the "canon" words that already exist in these dictionaries (Like some pronouns, meanings and numbers). But, for some other words I have completely changed them. For the sake of making it make sense, cuz otherwise... What the fuck??
I mostly use page #1 to write stuff and if it doesn't have a "canon" word, I shuffle between the little check box (on and off) and decide which "word" sounds better. Sometimes I pick the word with the box checked other times with the word unchecked (And it has its trick because with the box checked, it doesn't give you like "similar words" in case I want to do like "present/past/future/etc" unlike when having the box unchecked... It's pretty confusing to explain like this but the page has info about it lol).... Or I mix them together and then I write down the words in my notes with all their meanings and different variants and implement them on examples to not forget its use.
Sometimes when page #1 doesn't convince me I use page #2 and try to mix it up with page #1.
Page #3 and #4 are mostly to check on canon wording (But I also tend to change some words from there a little so it fits and doesn't collide with the words I already wrote down)
So far, I have already written down pronouns, the verb to-be, numbers and some other stuff. It's pretty much similar to english honestly lol
Tho there are existing pronouns in Goblin, it's also correct to use one's name when talking. So "Ya" can be replaced with one's name and it's also correct to say "[Name]'piir" when trying to say "My ---"
Idk if I'm explaining myself here NABDJSJSKKAK
For example, one of my Tags is literally "Torbek'piir mor" which translates as "Torbek's life" or "My life" since it's "'piir", because it written as if Torbek is saying it ("My life") rather than me point it ("His life").
So basically "Ya'piir mor" and "Torbek'piir mor" means the same!! (My life)
Tho, another thing: Pirr, Per, Mam, Maj, Hii, and Ke can be used alone and have the same meaning, but the correct form is with the pronoun (or name) at the beginning. This also depends on the region tho.
So it's also "correct" (In like.. more ''slang-like'' way??????) to say " 'piir mor " (My life) as well as " Ya'piir mor " or " [Name]'piir mor "!!!
Man... I can go on with this for HOURS because I DO HAVE BUNCH OF STUFF ON THAT NOTES APP---
You can always ask me more specific stuff, and keep dropping my stuff!!
Like "How do you say---" or "What does it mean---" (in case of tags or stuff that I have already written here lol).
Also, I'll leave you with some basic stuff. Just so you can have a bit more of what I already wrote in my Notes app lol
(The same as ownership. It's correct to use "Ya'krii" as well as just " 'krii " or " [Name]'krii")
*"Ta'to" (being "You Are") in a question becomes "To'ta" (being "Are You"). Just like writing in English.
Chaglu comes from an isolated goblin tribe, and has only been in 'civilization' a few months. Her Common is solid, but she's missing a lot of vocabulary. She substitutes with direct translations from Goblin, which is a very literal (and occasionally onomotopoetic!) language.
Jerk Bee (wasp)
Slug-in-the-rock (shellfish, in this case river mussels)
Dance Stabber (rapier). (The goblin word for 'stab' or 'stabbing thing' mimics the sound of a person being stabbed.)
