Enlightened Language

I'm back with another post on the enlightened language. Surprise! Anyways, this is more of a headcanon than an actual theory.

My headcanon is that the Enlightened Language sounds different to everyone, depending on who they are.

For instance, there is no way that Bex Dizznee talks in the same way as say, Fallon Vacker.

Bex would say something like, "Ooooh, Dex has a girlfriend..." Whilst Fallon would likely say, "Dexter, I see you are dating. How exciting."

But depending on the person they say it to, it'd likely sound the same. It depends on the listener's perspective.

That's why Keefe and Grady talk in a very similar manner, in spite of their age gap.

I’m very interested in the Enlightened Language. There are crumbs. Can someone please tell me everything confirmed about it?

I know there at least used to be a logographic system in place. But the names in the pronunciation guide don’t seem to line up with any sort of consistency. What do we know? What can be assumed?

So I don't know if I just missed something or whatever but do goblins have their own language?

Because as far as I know, they speak the Enlightened Language, and nothing else.

I mean, the gnomes have Gnomish, the trolls, trollish, the elves, the enlightened language, the dwarves have dwarven ….

Am I just missing something?

Elvin superiority

I'm going to be talking about how the elves use the Enlightened Language to assert a sense of superiority over the other intelligent species. As we all know, the Enlightened Language is a universal language amongst all the intelligent species (excluding humans). However, elves are the only ones who can speak it from birth; the rest have to learn how to speak it. The problem with this is that it allows the elves to assert dominance, because elves don't really need to learn gnomish, trollish, etc., unless they take the elite levels at Foxfire, whereas the other intelligent species must learn it if they are to be able to communicate with the elves. Notice the double standard? This also has an effect on the political landscape. Take, for instance, the Peace Summits in Lumenaria. I will contrast these Peace Summits with the UN General Assembly. Delegates at the United Nations are provided with interpreters during meetings. These translators are fluent in the six official languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish. These interpreters ensure that delegates can communicate effectively in their preferred language during meetings. In contrast, no translators are provided in the Peace Summits. This means that everyone must communicate in the Enlightened Language, regardless of their first language. This is the equivalent of forcing UN delegates to only speak English during the General Assembly, which would force all the non-English-speaking delegates to learn English to the point of fluency. This would be monumentally unfair. Furthermore, the idea for a peace summit came from the Ancients, which means that the other intelligent species had to learn the Enlightened Language before these summits, while the Ancients did not, and could just focus on their plans for the summits. Thus, this is how the universality of the Enlightened Language has led to an advantage for the elves. If I were in charge, I'd make a new language that everyone, including elves, had to learn to prevent such bias in the future. Thanks for reading!! Hope you liked it!!

Enlightened Language

The concept of the Enlightened Language is actually so funny to me because what do you mean it's just blabbering? It is quite literally described as sounding like a baby. The Council could be talking about what happened at Everglen but to humans it'd sound like that one Boss Baby meme. I can't, that cannot be canon. On top of that, being able to speak it from birth. That's suspicious, that's weird. I genuinely pity elvin mothers though. Imagine holding your baby for the first time and they look up at you and say, "how you doin'?" (These were canonically Keefe's first words, I'm calling it). If my baby did that I'd start asking about warranties and return policies. Way, no way!
