----- Time and time again he had watched her after their final confrontation, time and time again he had waited patiently but, out of respect, never interfered with her life ( except maybe sans a general wish or two ). But directly talking to her had been something he hadn’t grown accustomed to, not since then, and it was in and of itself a little jarring to him, all in all. Part of him had still been expecting the same girl that had run his maze, but the logical part of him knew it wouldn’t be the same after that. But he, a creature of the otherworldly nature, hadn’t changed a day- maybe that was more jarring for her.
“Of course,” his reply is nonchalant, aloof, as if there wasn’t too many unspoken words between them. “That is a natural function for you humans, after all.”
... All those years aside, he could still see that spark deep in her eyes. Maybe all hadn’t changed, after all.
