And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
We have all called someone with what we thought was either good or bad news. The truth is that news is news. What is bad news to one may be good news to another. It is not what happens to us, but our perception of and response to what happens to us that matters.
Bad things (as we see it) happen to good people (as we see them). But if that bad thing uncovers deeper needs that we were unaware of, is it really bad? Not everything that's bad to us is bad for us!
Furthermore, God knows what we need to mold us into the person he wants us to be and when he wants to use us to help mold someone else. It is not always about us!
Joseph had to go through prison before he became Prime Minister of Egypt. God used his father's favoritism, his brothers jealousy, his master's wife false accusation and Pharoah's anger with his chief butler and chief baker to move Joseph where he needed to be and train him for the position awaiting him, through which he would save the lives of thousands besides the very brother's that sold him into slavery.
If you love God and have answered his call to receive his Son as Lord and Savior, you can trust that no matter what you are going through, God will bring good out of it. Good is God with an extra "o"!
