Hi Smash! Hope you’re doing well these days :)

I’ve been thinking about the God AU a lot lately and wanted to look at the various ideas for it again, but unfortunately your post with all of the corresponding characters and gods seems to have vanished! I tried searching everything from “God AU” to “Hermes” to even “Metamy” because I remember that was mentioned once, but....it’s just gone. Do you happen to know where it might be?

(By the way, if you’re ever feeling in the mood to talk about that au, I have so many ideas that I’d love to share)

Huh, that's odd... Or not very odd. Tumblr loves hiding everything from me to the point that I've had to enter my archives to find posts before. Luckily for you, I've been occasionally discussing things about the God AU and I have some new stuff to share if you want it!

          “i was beginning to wonder if you had forgotten about me, ozpin.” the sarcasm in his voice is palpable, dripping from his words to pool around them both. “a whole  d a y  later than you usually arrive. and what is my lecture to be this time?” he slithers lazily toward the spring opposite the entrance to the cave, sighing as his scales meet the warm water. if ozpin didn’t already know where he was, the only evidence of his location would be the cloud of violet smoke that rises from behind the rocks.

          “let me guess... ‘if i would only admit to my wrongdoings, my title would be gladly restored’? is that the angle you’re going to attempt this time?”

so blake in god au is not associated with shadows in any way ; she’s the deity of rebellion &. moonlight. HOWEVER , it’s said that she manifests shadows at night to those in need for good luck. her followers pray to her temple for this reason , offering her gifts &. paying tribute to the moon in hopes of gaining strength.

marlais didn’t start as a god! he was mortal!

while one of the gods (no idea who, so hit me up) was disguising themselves as a mortal, they met and befriended marlais, who showed them such kindness that they wanted to keep coming back. unfortunately, being a faunus, marlais wasn’t very kindly looked upon, and someone attacked him and his friend. he took a hit for them and died

heartbroken at the loss of such a kind and compassionate human being, the god revealed their identity and punished the people who killed marlais, and they granted him a second chance at life--as a god

marlais became the god of compassion, dressed in flowing white robes and ornate gold. having been resurrected as a god, he appears as a golden skeleton with a porcelain mask of his real face covering his skull, and where his missing arm would be is a glowing replacement. he doesn’t appear to have a lower half, always floating just a few inches off the ground and covered by his robes

i got a lot of inspiration for his appearance from this

if he concentrates enough, he can form a ghostly, semi-transparent body over his skeleton. he usually uses this form to speak to humans since it looks a little less scary

he works hand-in-hand with death, often taking over their job to escort the truly kindhearted and innocent to the afterlife. he deals a lot with kids and unsung heroes like himself

he doesn’t ask that anyone bring him offerings, but people will often wear gold jewelry with a skull on it to show their patronage, and will place said gold into their coffins or urns upon death to invite him to bring them to the afterlife

he’s also symbolized by peach trees, and people will sometimes bury loved ones with a peach pit in the hopes that his blessing will let the tree grow from their bodies

          “my, my...” the voice echoes through the cave, bouncing off the walls, making it nearly impossible to pinpoint exactly where it’s coming from. “it isn’t often one of you comes to visit me--save to  g l o a t . ”

     the ground shifts, or at least some of it does. the light streaming through the cracks in the ceiling bounces off the stone as it moves, making iridescent scales shimmer and shift as the voice grows closer. “but you...” and there he is, emerging from the shadows in his gold-adorned glory, the god of deceit. as he grins, his fangs shine in the light, and his otherworldly eyes glow a haunting green. “...you aren’t usually one to do that.”

     his lower half extends toward the ceiling, draped over a shelf of rock and twisting into the shadows beyond. the end of his tail either doesn’t exist or is simply so woven into the cave that it can’t be seen. arthur draws a pipe to his lips, inhaling slowly. as he speaks, a cloud of intensely purple smoke accompanies his words. “speak, little bird. i have very little time to waste on the creatures who trapped me here.”
