i don’t have much of an imagination anymore — i noticed that earlier in the year.
as a kid i was constantly lost in fake scenarios; i had a lot of time to create make-believe storylines in my head.
and i’ve found i just don’t have that imagination muscle any longer — i’ve quite literally tried my hardest to daydream & it doesn’t happen for me anymore.
all of that being said; i had such a clear image come into my head the other day. it came up so clearly & so unexpectedly it felt almost intrusive.
my son was about 4 or 5 years old, & i was at a soccer field in the middle of autumn for one of his games, or one of his practices. i was talking to other parents at the field — specifically i was building relationships & probably inviting them over for dinner. my heart was to get to know them & have the chance to speak the Gospel into their lives.
the thing that was striking was that i knew it was autumn in this scenario, but i knew it was autumn not in FL. and immediately i was thinking “oh, maybe it was in NC. maybe we’ll have been living there for a year or two by the time my son is 5.”
my heart aches to be bringing the Gospel to parts of the US where church culture may be saturating cities, but the Gospel has not taken root. that’s real. that’s been my own experience here in central FL — but now that my church & other Gospel-centered churches have been planted here, it may be time to give attention to this tug NC has always had on me & my s/o.
more on that later.
