307 Seven Things God Hates
Proverbs 6:16-19 - These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.
Many people have heard of the so-called “seven deadly sins” (lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride). While those who study the Bible know that all sins are deadly, did you know there is a list of seven things God particularly hates? While this surely is not an exhaustive list of things God hates (for example Deuteronomy 16:22 states that God also hates idolatry), this is a list we should take notice of.
A proud look - pride
A lying tongue - lying deceives people
Hands that shed innocent blood - murder
A heart that devises wicked plans - premeditated sins
Feet that are swift to running to evil - inclination to engage in sinful activity
A false witness who speaks lies - committing perjury
One who sows discord among brethren - one who causes conflict and strife in the church
Two things that struck me on this list were #1 and #7. Pride is an insidious sin that can take many forms. You can even be guilty of pride if you take a “holier than thou” attitude with people around you or look down upon them because you have a greater knowledge of the Bible and the truth.
The reason #7 struck me was I realize that gossip can cause discord among brethren. I admit to being caught up in such conversations in the past, not realizing what damage they can do.
I invite you to examine this list and ask yourself if you have found yourself guilty of any of these items. If so, it is not too late to ask forgiveness of God and stop doing the things that He hates!
Freedom from judging others
Hi everyone, I hope you are all fine by God’s grace. Today’s post is about freedom from judging others.
Firstly, I want us to make a difference between judging and discerning. Discerning goes with differentiating between good and bad, and recognizing what is good or evil. Whereas, judging kind of goes with condemning.
The topic of judging isn’t really an easy topic. It’s not obvious to know…
