On Priestly Garments
Exodus 28:15 talks about a breastpiece priests would wear when making decisions. It is decorated with 12 precious stones representing the 12 tribes of Israel, and the cloth is made of fine linen. The breastpiece of decision also carry the Urim and the Thummim, which are lots they cast before God when making decisions. The priest entering into the Holy Place must bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart as a continuing remembrance of God.
How interesting is that? They actually have a physical piece of clothing they wear during a decision making process. Shouldn't we do that as well, perhaps in a less literal sense? Do we bear the means to make decisions before the Lord or are we doing it unprepared and naked?
"Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord. Also put the Urim and the Thummium in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron's heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord." (Exodus 28:29-30, NLT)
