RETRO GOD DEBATE: Chris Hedges vs. Sam Harris “Religion, Politics, and the End of the World”

The game has been rigged against Harris in this above-average debate, and he fails to hold his own. Even the moderator gets annoyed at a couple of his assertions. Hedges delivers a typically literate, informed speech casually dismissing not just Harris but all of the new atheists. “The new atheists have mistaken religion for tribalism...” The debate continues to politics and the Iraq war, and Hedges is always the better speaker, but its clear that Harris was set up to fail in this instance. An unbalanced but stimulating debate if you like Hedges or debates in general, but if you’re a Harris fan, no sweat skipping this one.

Letter to People that will Hate Me :)

I am quite aware that I go about stirring the pot with people that are quite form in their convictions. I'm sure that some will see "oneatheist" has reblogged their post and has now shit all over something which is perceived by many as holy. First, hell no I won't stop. Secondly, the way that big ideas change in us is that a little seed has to be planted. Perhaps, If I keep on, someone even just one will say, "Hey, he might be onto something." Thirdly, I respect all humans as humans. I put my pants on one leg at a time, just like you. Not everyone remains this grounded during moments of rage. Which is fine. It's no skin off my nose. You have rights. Your ideas do not. And I will mock them to my hearts content.
