The rain poured on in the background, broken up only by the occasional low rumble of thunder. Amara stumbled through muddied terrain, the sound of panting and faint choking filling the air, as well as hestant footsteps. She couldn’t help but think bitterly that her last days were supposed to be far ahead of her, instead of dying alone in the middle of nowhere. Her hands were shaking, as though the blood dripping off her fingertips stole away her control. Amara could only grimace weakly as her back gently hit the stone floor of the alley. The breath caught in her throat as she looked at it, the crimson of her blood spilling on the ground over and out unto gushes and gurgles, as tears mixed with the blood beneath her. It was indeed a malodorous way to die, already weakened due to her previous injuries from battle, against far too many Death Eaters.
‘‘Please remember.’‘ Bitterness easily rolled off her tongue with each word, teal eyes trying their best to regain focus again as they stared at trembling fingers. This was something she had called upon herself and now it had come back to bite her in the ass. She felt her heart beat rapidly in her chest as a feeling of fear cursed through her veins, rather than the blood her heart was pumping. ‘’I want you to remember.’’ A mutter finally left bruised lips as she raised her gaze to meet his, feeling disgustingly exposed and vulnerable in such a position. ‘‘You are by far the greatest thing that ever happened to me. The fact I get to die knowing I was loved. Not just by anyone. By you, Fabius.’‘ Wrapping her hand around his arm, she hid her face in his cloak, closing her eyes quickly, but even in the dark, Fabius was all she saw in that moment, the dark circles underneath his eyes, the pale skin. ‘‘I am sorry’‘, she whispered and cried a bit louder as the pain against her skin became more visible. But in that moment it didn’t even matter, the pain in her heart was bigger than the pain the injuries could possibly cause her body.
