"Haaa!" He grunted as he swung his sword in a wide arch. The sacean swordswoman cried aloud as his rapier cut her deep across the chest. He took a breath only when he saw her form lying slack against the grassy terrain. Her forest green hair seemed to flow into the sea of grass that made up the plain he stood in. She had a peaceful expression on her pale face.
"You fought honourably, my lady." He muttered. There would be no time for a proper acknowledgement. The tactician was already barking out new orders for him to advance. He ran ahead to the nearby fortress where he knew he was surrounded, but safe behind the stone walls. He took a moment to drink a vulnerary to replenish his strength. The medicine would have to do before he could meet with a healer after the battle.
The flapping of wings above prompted him to follow the sound with his eyes. They widened at the sight of a pegasus knight descending from the sky. He gripped his sword in distress as he recognized the rider.
She looked at him as well, but there was no love. No recognition. Just hate and vengeance. Even though she looked at him as though he were a filthy bandit, he recognized her all the same.
And she was charging straight for him, a javelin poised in her hand ready to run him through.
You might know some of our enemies, but be warned. They are just phantoms. Copies of your loved ones made to trick you. They will not hesitate to kill you.
The old man's voice rang through his head, but he still couldn't bring himself to raise his sword against her.
"CAEEDDAAAAA!" He shouted. She gave no indication that she heard him as her javelin came down.
Suddenly, there was a flash of blue and the woman was thrown off of her pegasus. Her body lay crumpled on the ground, however, his focus was elsewhere.
The blue flash was a woman who stood behind his fallen wife's phantom. She had the blue hair that ran through their family.
"A...Akane..?" He questioned warily.
