the whole plot of the game
Chrom takes Fionn's hand in cups in it his, "Fionn, I have never been more fond of a woman than I am with you. Please, disregard our family ties. Be the wind at my back and the sword at my side. Together, we will make a world for us... Just you and me."
"… Is this some kind of joke?" Slowly, she inches her hand out of the Exalts, shaking it slightly to get rid of the "icky exalt germs."
"I feel like this is a joke. Ha ha, really funny you guys! Jokes over!"
"No. No, no, no, no! Stop it! Knock it off! This isn’t funny anymore!" The general growled, placing a hand on her ax. "This is the least funniest thing ever.
Please save your affection, or this joke, for someone who will actually laugh, or someone who actually cares. Because let me tell you what, Exalt. I don’t give two shits about your feelings, and for my whole life, I’ve wanted you dead!”
"Me? Dead? And for what purpose?" Chrom swiped his arm to the side, her words of life goals striking a chord from inside the Exalt's body.
"If it's because of my father, then know that I do not bare the same ideals as that man. Blood and blade doesn't make a man equal to his fathers, Fionn! My love for you is proof of that!"
"Ah! We finally meet, Your Majesty!"
"Yes, a meeting of the ages… Might I ask, who might I be addressing to?"
"I’m Silver. A friend of Marth’s. i figured i’d have to meet his descendant sooner or later."
"A friend of Marth's...? Y-You mean... The Marth? He's a hero of long ago, Silver. I do believe that if you are a friend of this 'Marth', then his name is an honor of such a hero as my ancestor."Â
"No… This is a joke. This is definitely a sick joke, and I will not be a part of it." She hissed, sliding her hair back as she took a step away from Chrom.
Many thoughts were running through her head. But the most dominate one was just to punch him and get it over with. Perhaps she should wait off on punching him.
"Why don’t you go confess this to someone who cares, huh? Because I know for a fact, this is some sick joke, and I will not stand here and let it happen!"
"Gods! If you wished to convey that you did not care about a man's heart, you did not have to put it so blunt."
Chrom placed a hand over his now broken heart. He wish he could go back and not speak the words that had, seeing as how Fionn just could not believe the young Exalt's words!
"I swear on Emmeryn's grave, that my words are true to you! Fionn!"
"Ah! We finally meet, Your Majesty!"
"Yes, a meeting of the ages… Might I ask, who might I be addressing to?"
"I knew Plegians were thick-headed, but thinking I would come to pull a joke on something as serious as love? This is no joke, Fionn. I did not save my time beforehand and I cannot reset my life to go back before I confess... If you must give me rejection, then so be it... But, have the the knowledge of my true feelings. I request that we be wed right away."

Two Sides of the Same Coin [ Atterria | Chrom ]
Since her recruitment, tiny fragments of her lost memory had returned to her though nothing too significant. Atterria had remembered minimal things like her favorite color, the month of her birth [though not the exact date], certain foods she liked and disliked, as well as her favorite past time. Unfortunately, that was where it ended, she still knew nothing of her past prior to being found by Chrom and joining the Shepherds.
The lack of knowledge bothered her to no end, and even though now she had a place to stay and was surrounded by so many great people [the only unpleasant individual being Lady Maribelle], Atterria still couldn’t make herself feel right at home. Many nights, when sleep eluded her as she lay in her bed, wondering who she was and where she came from or if she had any family. It was on nights like these that she would wander the hallways of the Shepherd’s headquarters which resided in one of the outer wings of the main Ylissean palace. These walks provided her with some peace of mind which then granted her the ability to return to her assigned chamber and rest for the night but not before spending some alone time in the indoor garden.
At such a late hour, only a handful of guards were up and about making their nightly rounds amongst the palace. It’d been nearly three weeks since the newly appointed tactician had accepted Chrom’s offer to join his ranks, and while she worried about his logic for doing so, she was more than happy to accept. She had no real purpose in life, so when Chrom presented her with one, she vowed to both herself and to him that she would give it her all. She swore her loyalty to him and promised to give him nothing but her absolute best.
Atterria’s steps came to a complete stop as she paused by right before the garden’s glass doors; past it lay the indoor garden she had frequently visited almost nightly. A figure sat in one of the benches, illuminated only by the moonlight of the full moon that shown through the roofless area. In the present light, Atterria was able to make out the familiar silhouette of the prince who so kindly and graciously taken her into his home.
Her steps commenced once more, as she pulled open one of the glass doors and stepped outside, letting the door carefully shut behind her. She was greeted with by the cool night air as it made contact with her exposed flesh. The tactician quickly pulled her hood over her head, securing the front part of her coat tightly so keep the breeze out.
“Chrom?” she called out softly but loud enough for him to here. “Is everything alright?” She asked as she approached the seated figure, a hint of concern in her voice. “It is unlikely for you to be up at such a late hour…” Her eyes remained soft but full of curiosity as she finally stopped before him, “is something troubling you?”
Chrom had his fingers interlocked, his political mind in a rolling ball of what if's, should have's, and if only's. Atterria's words did not break such an anchoring weight until her naturally nagging voice woke him up from an awake slumber. He sat up, his bloodshot eyes settling on the tactician, "... I could ask you the same thing, Attenia." He placed his one hand on his knee and stood up, pushing off his knee with an exhausted effort, "I wouldn't think wandering the castle grounds were such a pass time." Chrom readjusted the belt looped around his waist. She had asked the prince questions about his thoughts. Of course, a curious tactician would remain curious. He brought his hand up to the bridge of his nose, pinching it in an attempt to wake himself. "My troubles are not of concern, just things silly politicians," Chrom spoke calmly, letting his hand fall and suddenly rest on Falchion. "A true question would be, why are you up, Atterria?" He asked with a hint of concern. He then turned himself to completely face her, "It's a bad omen if our tactician is running short on hours of sleep."
"Hi, mister! Aren't you that Prince person? Do you like dragons?"
"DRAGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONS!!!!"
"Hey Chrom... can I borrow Falchion?"
"Erhm..." Chrom looked at the scabbard that hung off his waist. His gloved hang grabbed the hilt of the powerful blade. "You couldn't if you tried, Pepto Bismal. The blade is selected to the few of the exalt."

"He’s dead to my knowledge, but someone still could have picked it up. I traveled through the outrealms once, to give myself some inspiration and reason to exist. I ended up in Tellius, during the age of the Radiant Hero, Ike. This man was one of the senators of Begnion, if that rings a bell, and he put the rewarp staff to annoying use. To sum up his character, he was a greedy, selfish, and deluded sunuvabitch, and it’s a good thing Ike’s party killed him. The staff Rewarp, however, was not destroyed, nor its process of making forgotten either. It’s possible the enemy could have picked it up in this same Outrealm, or studied it, should it have somehow lingered throughout history…" Now that was a scary thought, but it sure as hell explained Excellus, now didn’t it?
"Ike? The Radiant Hero? I think you might have had the wrong man..." Ike shook his head, "No man of his stature would vanquish a goddess only to disappear for years. And, Priam does not speak mad of such man." Chrom turned back to the table and placed his hands on it, "I apologize... I thought you might have had some important information for me..."

Robin dropped a few scrolls on the table, maps with various roads etched and crossed out laid on them. She had been trying to pinpoint the possible locations of the men who had targeted the exalt’s life, as well as kidnapped his friends, with little success. The points of incident were all over the map, there was no way to triangulate, but they HAD to have a base somewhere, right?
"Ugh, Chrom… all I can think of is teleportation magic." The tactician said as she brought her hand to her temples, massaging them. "They might operate outside Ylisse and have safe areas for teleport marked off, but it doesn’t explain how they were able to follow your caravan and attack it, not to mention Lissa and Maribelle…" The woman ran a hand through her hair, she clearly had not slept since the situation had escalated. "It just doesn’t make sense, but there has to be logic in this. There just has to be…"
They could not set guards everywhere through their country, thinning it out. The best they could do was hold their border and scout the lands with small and elite strike forces, and even then.
Lissa and Maribelle had been taken. Lissa was Chrom’s last remaining sibling.
She was not about to fail him again, cost him another sister.Â
"We have to go to the areas of incident and investigate. It’s the only way to find out just how they got there and maybe trace their steps."
If there were even steps to trace.
Chrom shook his head, "No... Moving to different areas will only leave us open. This magic... Was nothing like teleportation magic. I told you, it was... AÂ rift. It just opened up and then that person walked out with the king... They appeared in the throne room, right before me." Chrom slammed his fists down onto the table, "Gods! What do they want!? Do they want war!?" He grit his teeth, his fists shaking with anger, "What sins did I commit to anger such foreign friends?"

And that was exactly why she gave Chrom the brightest damn smile she could. “Exactly, Your Highness! When everyone’s down and droopy, I’ll always be around to try and lift us all up!” Even her voice rang with cheery energy. She handed Chrom the scrolls and said, “oddly enough, the scout-captain’s said no one’s been getting past the borders without careful background checks, so whoever’s been sneaking in and spying or whatnot has been using some particularly potent magic. I’m reminded of a certain kind of staff I once saw in my wanderings called a Rewarp, allowed the wielder to transport him or herself instantaneously any place…” She cut herself off a little to late to stop the rambling, but it was potentially important info. “My apologies, Your Highness, I’ve been chastized more than a few times for my blabbermouth. Is there anything you require which I can do?”
Chrom's glance swayed over to Robin then back to her, "'Rewarp,' you say? This sounds like new magic to me. And, if it really is this kind of magic then we're dealing with a mage. That eliminates quite a few potential threats." Chrom gave her a smile, "Now, what kind of user had this Rewarp you speak of?"

Honestly, with the country in such turmoil, it was a rare and audacious sight, a woman dancing with a smile plain to see on her face. She danced for no purpose– not to entertain or earn money, but it was merely a way she enjoyed walking.
Such a sight of blatant cheer seemed so impossible, few passersby did not wonder if she was aware she was in an unsafe country at war.
She knocked on a door– an ordinary-looking one but for the living contradiction standing before it. “Yoo-hoo! Sir! I’m here to give the scouts’ report, sir!” Yes, her declaration began with “yoo-hoo”, in one of the most solemn of times. Tucked in one arm was a scroll, sealed with the stamp of the scout-captain. She had little official standing other than a tentative Shepherd seat, so she decided running errands for the other officers would at least earn her enough points to be able to eat and paint.
The knock echoed in the room. Suddenly, Robin began to cover up the scrolls and Chrom embraced for an ambush. He hesitantly walked over, opening the door to reveal the girl. She had actual scouting scrolls. Chrom motioned for her to come inside, looking about the halls before closing the door. Robin uncovered the scrolls and sighed, Chrom folded his arms, "You're... Chipper." He let out a sigh and a smile himself, dropping his arms, "It's nice to see a giggle in times like these."

A rift suddenly opened before the exalt's throne. A man with a mysterious cloak stepped out, the body of some man hung over his shoulder. Chrom got up to his feet, going to draw Falchion before the man held his hand out as if to stop him. Chrom froze, a drop of sweat streaming down his temple and stopping. The figure dropped the body. It was a noble-- No... It was a king from one of the overseas countries. One that Chrom never went to campaign on. As the drop of sweat fell of Chrom's cheek, the figure disappeared into the rift. Chrom stepped forward, the rift suddenly shut and left Chrom with the dead royal. Days passed before the news of the royal arrived in Ylisse. And, to top it off, word that the king's life had been taken by Chrom did not pass over either. The Exalt attempted one too many times to discuss peace and error with them. All their messenger pigeons never returned, Chrom's caravan was ambushed and he barely escaped alive, and now Maribelle and Lissa lay captive as they were captured traveling between cities. These... Foreigners were among his country. Chrom now sat in his tactician's war room, discussing the matters of war.Â
