Join me (and that Chris Beckcom guy) at the course for a good cause. We’ll also be dropping by SCAD to give the kiddies a hard time with their studio work.
Envíe la chamba embrollosa para participar en la dinámica de Go Design MX a ver como nos va, es bueno ver la participación de talento del sur de Veracruz #powerminatitleco 💖

Its now time for the combined Swedish Furniture Design and Glass Design exhibition at Linnaeus University! We chose to call it “Substance.” This video is a series of small introductions to each designer who will show work in “Substance.” I think we’re a pretty cute and talented class!

Burning Rosids is a Fitting Tribute to Matt Courtright
Stone Brewing Company
MATT’S BURNING ROSIDS IMPERIAL CHERRYWOOD SMOKED SAISON
Stone Brewing Company lost an esteemed member of their brew crew on August 24, 2013: Matt Courtright. Matt, a former architect from Michigan found his calling in brewing outstanding beer and moved to California to make that dream a reality. He unfortunately lost his life in an accident at Stone Brewing Company’s Escondido location. No words I put down here could ever top Stone’s tribute page to Matt, so I will defer to the heartfelt sentiment expressed in their page.
In honor of Matt’s memory, Stone followed up on a creation originally conceived by the man it honors. Matt’s Burning Rosids Imperial Cherrywood Smoked Saison is as unique a beer as we at CraftHook have ever tasted. The beer is complex, yet refreshing even in light of its 10.7% ABV. The aroma has notes of lemon, grapefruit, and as expected, some cherrywood smokiness. The cherrywood smoked malt does not dominate the beer, although it is definitely a significant feature throughout. The beer has significant carbonation, present in the mouthfeel. There is a straw or hay-like taste at the end that makes it distinctive. The beer’s unique taste is every bit what it seeks to be: memorial.
One of the best things about Matt’s Burning Rosids is that Stone has embraced Matt Courtright’s legacy through charity. Proceeds from the beer will be donated to several of Matt’s favorite charities.
GoDesignInc.org: A charity dedicated to fulfilling the architectural needs of the developing world.
Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF): A foundation committed to stopping youth violence. TKF was named in honor of 20-year old Tariq Khamisa who was killed by a 14-year old gang member.
Stone Brewing Company’s Matt’s Burning Rosids is a fitting tribute to a man who gave of himself to make the world a better place: through worthwhile causes and the development of fantastic beer. Raise a glass to Matt and give this one a try.
GoDesign for May
As some of you may or may not know, I volunteer with the non-profit humanitarian design/build firm GoDesign. Yes. It's true.
Mission Statement:
To research architectural needs for developing national and international communities and research methods funding these projects; To develop design solutions and provide design services for developing national and international communities; To equip, train, and lead teams and/or individuals to go and serve in various capacities to fulfill Acts 1:8 and the Great Commission.
In May, I will be meeting up with a team of my dear SCAD friends in Dilla, Ethiopia to begin the construction of two additional classrooms for the completed school and rental housing to fund the school in a manner which children can attend at little to no cost. The design should be going on right now. I suppose I should get on that right away. Promises Promises. Anyway, this is a series of promotional images fashioned from the photos taken from my trip to northern Ethiopia back in July. I'd like to give a special shout-out to all you filters out there at Photoshop.
This office sustains itself through a system of charity. People voluntarily give up their time, their money, and their labor to have these projects realized. People from both sides of the ocean. From all walks of life. With this you've got a crop of poor, financially-challenged architects trying make it out in May. And making it out can be financially challenging. If you're in a position to lend a hand, then by all means.
If you're interested in the work being done, and you would like to help out, in any capacity, please contact myself [email protected] or Scott Jackson [email protected]
And if you're the believing kind, remember:
Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
Luke 14:12-14
