Wade had been doing pretty well since then, all things considered. Of course, there had been a few more bad times, but he was very serious about upholding his promise to Peter. He has collected at least 7 more dollar-store medals, and he treasures them with all of his heart—his cart is filled with different display case options—but he’s run into an issue recently.

For the past eight days, he’s been having a bad time, and he’s not sure how to tell Peter because…

“Is it about me?” Peter is standing at Wade’s door in a worn ESU tee with sweats to match. His bed head is almost enough to distract Wade from the fact that Peter is at his door at 3 in the morning.

Wade picks his jaw from off the floor. “With a face like that, everything can be about you, Petey-pie,” he says with genuine awe, but winks to tone down the brokenness in his tone. His brain is going haywire.

Peter rolls his eyes, “I’m serious”. He pushes past Wade and stops at the apartment’s kitchen counter before he starts to pace. Wade closes the door softly as he comes to terms with what’s happening at the moment.

Peter’s mumbling gets quieter and more spaced out until he’s not really defining the molecular formula for a glucose molecule anymore. He’s aware of every inch of space between him and Wade, how the closest part of Wade to him is his knees at the moment, how the little circles Wade draws into the nub of the tiny leaves look like they would feel really good.

He gets that feeling in the nape of his neck and flits his view to Wade.

Wade is looking back at him, curious.

“You want one?” He offers with a balmy laugh.

Peter is temporarily taken out of his stupor. He nods his head.

Wade picks one up, and, for only a moment, Peter imagines Wade bringing the fruit to his own lips instead of Peter’s hand. He pictures Wade pressing a soft lick to the chocolate coating, then another, before sucking the strawberry's point into his mouth, kissing it. He licks more of the chocolate until the red tip shows, and he keeps lapping and lapping and lapping—

“Say aah.”

Finding your friends attractive is normal. He hasn’t had a real relationship in years and Wade is the closest one to him, it’s only expected that something like this would happen eventually. A little friend-crush is normal.

“And, yes, I will do better but first, you have to stop doing that ‘up-down’ thing,” Wade looks at him confused again but Peter keeps talking. It was his turn to ramble.
