Yelling at Odin through a tarot reading and my right eye spasms in pain. GEE. SUBTLE.
On a Hermes and Odin Connection
Something I learned a few months ago, about the Germanic Woden and how he was dubbed Mercury by the Romans (I’ll have to source this later, it’s late) and it kind of nibbled around in the back of my mind for a while. It connected with ideas I’ve had about other things so I just kinda hung on to it.
Then, earlier this week I had a SUPER connected entire day with Odin. Lots of good conversations, lots of good stuff shared to other devotees of Odin, good times all around. And I got to thinking about Odin as an intercessor. I wasn’t always talking to him about a thing, sometimes I was using the strong connection with him to contact Freya, or Loki, etc. Then I thought, what if there are other deities who can act in this way with their pantheon? What if I could contact them, respectfully of course, so that I can better divine information for their devotees, as I had done with Odin.
I began looking into liminal deities, that’ s specifically what I was vibing towards, and Hermes came up connected to crossroads, to travel, to passing between life and death, to magic, and prophecy… interestingly all similar things to Odin’s “stuff”
Then yesterday I got the Wildwood Tarot deck, some of the cards were just calling to me so I got the app to try it out. I did an interview with it and got some inteeeeense Dionysus vibes. He was all over the cards. Tonight, I went to talk to Dionysus just to see what’s up. Eventually it came around that he was just getting my attention for Hermes. Oh.
So we had a brief chat, Hermes and I. He seems interested in communicating together, as long as I keep things balanced (his words) between Norse and Hellenic things, so to speak. (which I need to figure out exactly what that means)
ANYWAY, eventually making my way around to The Point: when I was looking up symbols of Hermes, I came across this link which says:
IDENTIFIED WITH NON-GREEK GODS: Mercurius (Roman god); Thoth (Egyptian god); Anubis (Egyptian god); Woden-Odin (Germanic god)
Now, I’m wondering, just how much connection is there between Hermes and Odin? Historically? I don’t really need the information to further anything, it’s just sort of bugging me now.
When you get clearer messages to and from deities for other people, but when it comes to yourself, it’s like trying to listen to a whisper in a wind tunnel. Maybe because I have to articulate it for others I can “hear” better? idk, kinda frustrating.
I hate taking my pain medications. They make me feel even less in touch with this world than I usually do, and to feel less grounded is the last thing I need when my pain is particularly bad. The things I See are clearer and sharper, the things I Hear are louder and less fuzzy, and I barely need to try to cross the hedge.
My filter goes away too. I hear things, or I come to know things and I say them, when I normally know better than to just Truth Speak all over the place.
