tell us about the kingslayer gods? and maybe how they use/interact with magic!
OH MY GOD GUYS Look its moth :)
Anyway, the gods are generally considered to be the oldest living things in their world (thought most, including some of the gods themselves, aren't sure of that). They all have a lot of control over various elements of the world, from very general things (oceans, fire) to very specific things (bobcats, moss)
The world isn't entirely magic, there is some scientific elements outside the gods control, but they mainly control most of it. Without them, a lot of that aspect would die out, and while the non-magical forces would keep it alive, it would never be able to flourish, and simply flounder on until a new god of that aspect is found.
Most gods are at least widely known. Some are given celebrity status like that of like Brad Pitt or Clint Eastwood, some have status like religious and/or political figures, like the Pope, others are usually just given some bit of recognition, still others prefer to keep to themselves, and a few have been seen by almost no human eyes.
Most of the gods have their own religions and churches around them, but almost everyone ever had prayed to at least one of them. If you pray to them, and they hear you, they will boost your power in some aspect (the one they are the god of) for an amount of time.
Their personalities usually reflect what aspect they are gods of. Almorte, god of death, tends to have a bleak demeanor and usually seems sad all the time, due to him sometimes taking the time to listen to the stories of people from the underworld. However, it can also be very joyful, as it loves listening to the lives the people led. Erodite, god of romantic love, is very passionate, dramatic, emotional, flirtatious, fiery, and, well, romantic. They can also be very relaxed, casual, caring, kind, and understanding. They tend to switch between these states a lot.
(I should also mention that the gods who fall under the range of attraction and types of love and stuff are very respectful to aces, aros, aplatonics, and the like ^^)
Erodite is actually one of the 'branched gods', or gods that exist as a more specific aspects of another god. Erodite, for example, is a branch of Amoris, goddess of love in general. Seloana (god of the oceans) and Limnoko (goddess of freshwater) are branches of Hydra (god of water). Branched gods are usually the (immortal) children of the god they are branches of, the immortal children of other gods, gods who came into existence simply by the concept of whatever they are gods of coming into existence as well (an uncommon occurrence nowadays, but it has happened) and very rarely a former mortal.
Gods can also have their immortality removed if they wish to live a normal life. It's a long, painful process developed by Laeh (goddess of medicine) and Pwertenza (god of power). The only qualifications needed to do this are if said god has another immortal lined up to replace them. It should be worth mentioning that the first few attempts at this resulted in the deaths of some gods, as an oversight on Laehs part led to those gods rapidly aging and then dying. They fixed this, however.
A mortal can also become IMmortal but this process is harder than having immortality removed.
Most former gods, despite usually trying to live a normal life, end up famous in some way or another, and a notable case of this is the war goddess Ivory (real name Krachta; nicknamed Ivory for her hair), who had her immortality removed when her son Ashwyn was born so she could live a normal life with him and her husband Iakopo. She actually ended up being murdered soon after. It was pretty sad.
Last thing, if the gods chose to have a family with a mortal, their children have a 1 in 2 chance of being immortal themselves, and said kids usually are very proficient in whatever aspect their parents control. If THOSE kids choose to have a family, their kids have a 1 in 4 chance of immortality, regardless of their parents mortality status, With more mortals added, it goes 1 in 8, 1 in 16, and so on. It also works in the opposite direction if those kids have families with immortals.
Also the gods appear before humans they always have a human disguise because their true forms tend to have bizarre, usually negative effects on humans.
