Commissioned art of Elizabeth, one of the titular Six Strangers. In a outfit inspired by the landsknechts, she is a fiery bi woman, a force to be reckoned with. Short, stout and loyal, she's been one of the hardest characters to write.

When writing a character who is deliberately abrasive, it's extremely difficult to balance. I want people to, if not like this character, at least understand her. I hope underneath the anger and bitterness, people can see her heart of gold, her potential.

OtherShard, a coining post

Most of us in the alterhuman community have heard of godshards, someone who's soul is a piece of a god, usually sent to incarnate to preform tasks. But what about other entities? Gods aren't the only beings that can have shards! For example, Clover's partner is a shard of a fallen angel, and we've heard of others with a similar experience.

So we bring you a new term: OtherShard! It would be used in a similar way as otherkin, "I'm an angel-shard", "I'm a shard of Hera", "I'm questioning demon-shard", essentially it's an umbrella term for godshards and other shard beings to have a united community.

Definition of OtherShard:

Someone who is a shard of any kind of being. Some are smaller independent parts, some are lost/separated pieces of a being. There are lots of shard identities, but the common thread is being a part or, "shard" of an entity. new kin feelings 😭

anyone have a word for this? my current kintype ive settled on is a Celestial, however recently ive gained more kin feelings like something relating to divinity or a minor deity however i dont feel like im a god? i feel like im meant to be for something, something to be loved and given attention like a god but not quite holding the same power as one, maybe a spirit of something? anything relating to magic, space, and the cosmos basically.

the only word i can really use to describe it is like a muse from homestuck, how they embody their aspect for the sake of others.

What is a Godshard?

Definition: a godshard is an individual who is a shard of a deity, spirit, or higher power.

Notes: it is a common experience that a godshard is broken off for a purpose, be it fulfilling some large cosmic purpose or something more small scale. this isn’t always the case, though.

keep in mind, godshards can exist alongside whoever they are a shard of, meaning that they can function normally with or without the shard as part of them.

it may be considered kin, but i consider it only kin adjacent, as it is rejected and/or unknown by most communities, even kin communities, on first glance.

Disclaimer: godshards are not godkin. godkins are wholly a deity, while godshards are only partially a deity.

i don’t hate people who are godkin, of course. this is just an important distinction to make.
