Irina Feodorovna Godunova (1557-1603) was the tsaritsa consort of all Russia by marriage to Feodor I.

As her husband died without surviving children, she was the de facto ruler of Russia until she retired to Novodevichy Convent nine days later. She remained the nominal ruler of Russia until her brother Boris Godunov was elected tsar.

Omg this video of Maria Skuratova-Belskaya, the wife of Tsar Boris Godunov, from the awesome Godunov show, is amazing!!!!

Her Russian Lady Macbeth was amazing and she and Boris were the heart of the show. Once he died and she was killed and the show moved on to their daughter Xenia and the Time of Troubles generally, it really lost its main point and drive.

I loved how tough and feral she was and how she eventually fell for smart, driven Boris who even with everything was still gentler in nature than she was.

Loved it!
