Kenneth I MacAlpin (810-858) was King of Dál Riada (841–850), and King of the Picts (848–858).
He is traditionally considered the founder of Scotland, which was then known as Alba in Gaelic, although like his immediate successors, he bore the title of King of the Picts.
Queen Maria Theresa of Austria (1638-1683) led a life of isolation and sadness throughout her reign. Except for a brief regency in 1672, during the king's campaign against Holland, she engaged in no political activity whatsoever.
