In 1533, at the age of fourteen, Catherine de' Medici (1519-1589) married Henry, the second son of King Francis I and Queen Claude of France.
She saw very little of her husband during their first year of marriage, but the ladies of the court treated her very well, impressed by her intelligence and enthusiasm.

Lucienne de Rochefort (1088-1137) was the first wife of Louis VI of France. She was married to him before he became king, from 1104 to 1107.
Lucienne and Louis were married for three years, but did not have any children together. According to Abbot Suger of Saint-Denis the marriage was not consummated.
Elisabeth of Luxembourg (1409-1442) was the only daughter of King Sigismund of Hungary and mother of King Ladislaus the Posthumous of Hungary and Bohemia.
On September 28, 1421, in Bratislava, she was betrothed to Duke Albert of Habsburg, an ally and protégé of Sigismund. Following her father's death, her husband Albert was crowned on January 1, 1438, as Sigismund had named him his heir.
After his coronation, she worked tirelessly to have her rights recognized in the laws enacted in 1439, which recognized her as the heir to the Hungarian throne as Sigismund's daughter.
