WE GOTTA PUSH GODZILLA FOR SUMMERSLAM!
Matt
At long last, here is the BRAND NEW Godzilla article! The movie that introduced probably Godzilla's greatest adversary of all time: Ghidorah, The Three Headed Monster! http://retrorevelations.blogspot.com/2017/08/godzilla-chronicles-ghidorah-three.html
The last stop during Godzilla Week before the debut of the brand new article, here is Mothra vs. Godzilla!
http://retrorevelations.blogspot.com/2017/05/godzilla-chronicles-mothra-vs-godzilla_28.html
The second Godzilla film, released a year later in 1955, featured the first monster battle of the series, against my second fav. daikaiju of all time, Anguirus! http://retrorevelations.blogspot.com/2016/05/godzilla-chronicles-godzilla-raids-again.html
So, as a kind of unofficial kickoff to my 2017 Halloween articles, the next one on the docket is a Godzilla piece! But first, as sort of a nice lead-up, I've decided to make this "Godzilla Week", where I'll be sharing my past Godzilla Chronicles" articles each day, leading up to the launch of the brand new entry! With that in mind, here is the first GC article I wrote, detailing the beginnings of my love affair with the Big G, and what I love about the big lug so much. http://retrorevelations.blogspot.com/2014/05/godzilla-chronicles-beginning.html
Godzilla week: King Kong vs. Godzilla
Plot: When Godzilla wakes up, it's up to King Kong and a bunch of drug fruits to stop him.
Review: The most epic and probably famous Godzilla movie of all time! Also it's the first one I saw! Also brown face! Also it has the biggest gap between most boring story and best fights!
Yes, King Kong vs. Godzilla has a lot of problems mostly being that the only interesting about the story is how bad the brown face is on the "native" tribe. Just nothing about the characters is interesting in anyway.
However it does have King Kong vs. Godzilla! And it has a lot of cool moments. This is probably the most improv'd of all the Godzilla fights but that has some great moments with the most just back and forth between the monsters. Plus Kong gets electricity powers at one point. Also Godzilla sees a helicopter in his eye line and blows it up for no reason! Once the fight gets going, it is so much fun that it's hard for me to hate this even if the lead up is sooo boring!
Trivia: There has been a long held rumor that there is two endings: one where Godzilla wins and one where King Kong wins for their respective countries. Sadly this is not true.
Fancied drawing the big guy himself.
Look at that Gurren Lagann.
