the endings of villain 1971 and copkiller 1983 are so similar to me because esentially what happens both times is that these gay relationships are revealed to the oblivious public. like in copkiller the police come and enter this secret apartment where harvey and lyndon's characters lived together and the cops are confronted with their existence/way of life etc. in villain too, i think, the people standing on their balconies watching the shooting & arrest symbolize this that burton's character has been uncovered to them. like this allegory of being gay with being a criminal couldn't be more explicit in both movies. the ending shots too are very similar because they symbolize how these characters represent something that is very vicious / frightening to the general public but they are there, it's just that people prefer to not see them because it's easier than this confrontation . i mean i still have a lot to say about this but this is the most i could articulate more or less coherently
🫵🫵 is that allowed??!?!?!
