There are so many errors I could unpack in that pathetic attempt at a call-out, but part of it revealed yourself (or at least mod Jolteon- I'm not sure how homogeneous y'all are) as a truscum and I know from experience that I shouldn't waste my time.

Hello, Mod Nidoqueen. I don’t know that I’d call Mod Jolteon’s response a ‘call-out,’ since she was actually answering the question you yourself asked (”Why the antagonism towards gfe?”), and she provided the sources and documentation to back her claims. Had she not done that, she would have been making accusations with no proof, and we don’t do that here. We don’t throw around words arbitrarily and claim that someone is transphobic, homophobic, ableist, racist, or sexist without good reason.

 In short, you asked a question, she answered it, and if you can’t refute those claims, that’s on you. Feel free to point out anything specific that you feel to be in error, we’ll address it, clarify our position and, if necessary, apologize for any misconstruing on our part. Otherwise, your sending this ask in an attempt to gain some kind of high moral ground without actually addressing the problems in the content itself is a waste of my time, and something I could go without dealing with right now, to be frank with you.

To get to your accusation, yes, Jolteon could be described as ‘truscum.’ This is no secret. It’s not news. All of us would, considering that we believe that one of the requirements to be trans, and to take up needed and finite trans resources, is to actually be trans, aka you must experience some kind of dysphoria or mismatch with your gender. We all agree on this, including Vaporeon, our trans male mod, and Flareon, our genderfluid mod.

Dysphoria can occur in all kinds of ways and range in levels and types of discomfort, and it can fluctuate from being fine with your assigned birth gender one day to being extremely uncomfortable with it on another day, but the jist of it is, you must, at least occasionally, experience some sort of mismatch between assigned gender at birth and your preferred gender. That is dysphoria. If you don’t experience dysphoria, or are comfortable in the gender you were assigned at birth, which is usually based on biological sex, you’re cis.

If you want to go with the ‘tucute’ definition, that people can claim to be trans without dysphoria, I could claim to be trans. I could demand hormone therapy (which can trigger dysphoria if you don’t already have it, and is not something you want to take frivolously), and siphon valued resources from actual trans people that need them. I could demand people listen to my opinion and speak over other trans people, because I claim to be trans, when I don’t even experience dysphoria. And that would be wrong.

But then, you are also openly transphobic. You believe that trans men experience male privilege, which is impossible because it would imply that society, as a whole, accepts them as ‘real’ men and therefore, treats them as ‘real’ men. You cannot argue that society as a whole is transphobic, and then in another breath claim that trans men experience privilege for being trans men, when transphobia itself implies that people either do not accept trans men as real men, or seek to institutionalize/criminalize them for it. That’s not possible. It’s an oxymoron. For trans men to have male privilege, society would have to first accept them as ‘real’ men, and that is very clearly not the case.

On top of that, you also openly implied that transphobic insults like ‘shrimp dick’ are less harmful than other transphobic insults, and refused to apologize to a trans man who took issue with that and considers said insult to be a slur. In fact, you stated that you took “less” issue with said insult because it’s mostly truscum that complain about it, applied a bunch of terms that really have nothing to do with it, and used it as an attempt to derail the fact “shrimp dick” is used specifically against trans men, to trigger dysphoria.

If being ‘truscum’ means being openly against these behaviors, then yes, I am proudly and unapologetically truscum. Because I am a decent person and accept that 1) there are communities to which I don’t belong and have no right to butt into, and 2) I do not tolerate transphobia against individuals based on their preferred gender. Or for any other reason.

There are absolutely terrible people who are truscum and use this fact to promote their own agenda, but the definition of truscum does not qualify in and of itself as an invalidation or “I don’t have to listen to you.” There are rotten feminists, too, but no decent person would claim that someone’s opinion can’t be valid purely because they are a feminist.

Full disclosure: I am still not entirely comfortable with the way Jolteon handled that. It seemed far too hostile for my tastes. I think that while there are many of your memes that seem, to me, counterproductive and misinformed, there are others which I agree with.In the end, I think we both strive towards the same goal -  to express our opinions on potentially controversial social justice topics in an effort to foster (hopefully productive) discussion - but approach it from different angles and viewpoints. Even though our opinions are polarized regarding certain topics (or perhaps even because of that) I think that there are opportunities/possible avenues for discussions between the two blogs regarding the issues we both address.

However, if you’d prefer to steer clear that’s your prerogative, and would not be entirely unwarranted.

For the record, I don’t entirely agree. The aim of Golbats is to yell and scream obnoxiously at people in tags they feel are frequented by users who ‘deserve’ to be screamed at. You’ve admitted yourselves that you chose Golbats specifically for this reason, because they are shrieking, obnoxious Pokemon that a lot of people don’t like in their faces. I don’t think the intent of Golbats is to foster discourse at all, but to shove their opinions at anyone they feel like while ignoring when people from the very communities they claim to defend (the trans community or the deaf community, for example) take issue with it. That’s not aiming to be better, that’s immaturity and bullheadedness. Some of your opinions are fine, but very few people are wrong 100% of the time.

We aim for a more mature and balanced discussion, but there is also behaviour from your blog that specifically bothers me, as I outlined above. That said, we don’t always agree amongst outselves, because we have a diversity of mods here. I, personally, am always willing to reasonably hear what anyone has to say, but a discussion works two ways, so you have to be willing to discuss, not scream.

A place where less radical people, who would instantly "tune out" the radical version, can still get a gentle nudge towards better thinking. After all, you do post true stuff most of the time. By calling “stupid” or “intelligence” ableist, you are presuming that the word “stupid” automatically means “disabled.” That automatic association is ableist. The disabled are not stupid. Stupid individual people are stupid. It is not a slur, and the concept of intelligence is not ableist, either, especially considering intelligence covers not only academic fields, but different kinds of intelligence. Everyone is intelligent in their own right, whether that is in academia, they are a talented self-taught mechanic, they are gifted in social situations, etc.

Trans people are trans because they experience dysphoria. You are non-dysphoric, therefore you are personally not trans. It is only “gatekeeping” in the sense that cis people should not ever claim to be trans when they are not, because that is harmful.

I bring this short list of your personal posts up to debunk them because your language in this ask suggests that you are distancing yourself from your admitted “radical” view of golbatsforequality, but the truth is, you are part of that “radical” blog and contribute to many harmful ideas that are spread across Tumblr. 

The only “symbiotic” relationship here is that whilst there are the odd posts on Golbats that are true, the majority of them are false, misleading, contribute to hatred or undermine the trans community, so there have to be other blogs to counteract toxic information presented as fact. 

I would not necessarily say that we are “antagonistic.” I would rather say that we are frustrated about the nonsense, bigotry and misinformation that you, personally, and the other mods create.
