The promo for next week got me all excited, and it’s not only because of KnightRook or the swashbuckling parts.

Above all, I’m excited for this:

Rumpelstiltskin actually looks 100% ready to murder Hook. He knows he can’t use magic in his cell, yet he still tries to reach for him.

THINGS HAVEN’T CHANGED, Y’ALL

Hook then begs Rumpelstiltskin for help. His voice breaks when he says “I need magic to set her free.” Like, consider for a moment how important that is. Hook exposing himself to his arch-nemesis like that.

I”M SO FUCKING EXCITED

I know they’re probably gonna screw it up, but you know, even when I wasn’t a huge fan of the show, I really really enjoyed that FoeTP action since pretty much 2x04. At some point I fell in love with it but yet I had to content myself with mere scenes per season. Okay Season 2 and 4 had the good stuff, but still, imagine having one or two scenes per half season for your OTP. Yeah, that’s how it’s felt like all this time. I’ve been wanting more from them for literal years. I’m so thirsty I’ll take anything.

I thought I’d be far more eloquent with this but apparently I’m not. Eh, whatever. I’m just putting this here for you, I hope it makes clear how ready I am for it.

Oh fuck, I just thought of something that helps me reconcile with some of the things I hated about 7b...

In 7x13, Killian allowed his hate for Rumpelstiltskin to get the best of him, and so he didn’t allow him to kill Ahab for him. I mean it wasn’t the main reason, but his negative feelings did play a role in his decision.

And it all went to hell afterwards, he was poisoned and Alice was left alone.

Soooooo that helps me come to terms a bit with his decision to make peace in 7x18. That time he chose to set his feelings aside and let go, in hopes that it wouldn’t backfire against him and most importantly Alice.

Hook returns to Rumpelstiltskin’s cell, holding the fishhook, and looks no less reluctant to work with him.

On the other hand, Rumpelstiltskin plays the excited one.

Rumpelstiltskin: Look at us! The Captain and the Crocodile working together! Whoever would have thunk it?

Killian: Don’t push your luck.

The strained, whisper-y way he says that is giving me chills.

Ahab appears and is a little bitch. Did he really follow Killian all the way to Rumpelstiltskin’s cell just to expose his lie?

Ahab has already heard Killian mention Alice’s name, but it’s Rumpelstiltskin’s words that do the trick. “Think of your daughter!”. Ahab grabs the chance to taunt Killian.

Before Ahab has even mentioned Alice’s name, Killian’s hand is already on the hilt of his sword, ready to pull it out. Then he does mention it and this happens:

Killian being all dramatic in the foreground and Rumpelstiltskin being all ‘Yeah, you’d better!” in the background. It’s so serious and funny at the same time and it’s just awesome.

Ahab keeps pushing it and challenges Killian to a public duel. Rumpelstiltskin interferes, saying he’ll kill Ahab and let Killian have the glory.

Rumpelstiltskin: And then your legend will live on ~*~forever~*~

I love how half of the things DO!Rumpelstiltskin says he does in a sing-song voice, yet he was the one to protect himself from the song curse.

Rumpelstiltskin: Otherwise, you are gonna lose everything.

You should listen to him, mate. He’s one to know that.

Rumpelstiltskin: I can help you, if you let me... if you let... me... out!

This strikes a chord in Hook and he refuses him. Rumpelstiltskin’s tone probably reminded him too much of the “imp” that took Milah and his hand, and Hook turns to Ahab.

He accepts the challenge and Ahab looks too pleased with himself. I’m not glad Hook accepted but I’m glad Ahab got his ass handed to him. Stupid brat.

Now after reading @justanotherwannabeclassic‘s post, which doesn’t excuse but simply explains Hook’s way of thinking in that moment, I have a lot more understanding for him. Still, a bad way to write this in, they could have actually explored the fact that Killian used to miss a part of his identity after devoting his whole life to Alice, but more understandable indeed.

Also this scene is so horribly lit I had to edit all the screenshots and even then the quality turns horrible. Sigh.

“For this lovely piece of hardware, I think I’ll take your hand.”

This. This moment. It just gets me so much. Dark Hook’s theatrics were at an especially high level all throughout his existence, but this moment, just... there’s so much anger hidden behind his cocky attitude, the way he delivers the line, the irony in the words. 

“this lovely piece of hardware” - He doesn’t even say “you took my hand”. This line is just dripping with irony and I seriously cannot begin to describe how it makes my mind a mush with how it just IS.

It’s one of the seriously few times we see how he feels about losing his hand, and he just straight-out puts this experience next to losing Milah and Emma becoming the Dark One. He’s not fucking around. He could just as well shove Gold to a wall and scream at him in a more serious manner, but no. Here he is playing him, mocking him and his theatrics as the previous Dark One while listing all the reasons he hates him and saying he wants to kill him.

This whole scene is simply so fucking perfect and it’s been almost two years since I watched it and I still cannot articulate how unbelievably stunning it is as a whole.

I was wondering why Weaver was so interested to know what Rogers was capable of, and why he was so willing to test that.

Then I thought that for him, Rogers could be the perfect cover and alibi. Rogers is willing to do all the chores other officers are too bored to do, therefore earning his “Eagle Scout” nickname, and would rather lose his job than cross the line to keep it… Perfect cover to work with for someone as crooked as Weaver.

Headcanon that the Evil Queen was defeated in the Wish Realm because Snowing’s song did work there.

Wish Hook would have memories of singing like a Drama Queen™ in that tavern. I mean it would be a waste if no-one ever remembered that.

But he also got his end of the deal. He saw Rumpelstiltskin trapped in that cell and thought this was enough revenge for him, seeing him trapped in an inescapable cell without anyone to care for him so he left him there.

Knowing that Regina was defeated and his curse was lost, therefore he had no actual chance of seeing his boy again, Rumpelstiltskin begged Hook to just put him out of his misery, but Hook denied, feeling his thirst for revenge being even more satisfied by seeing the Crocodile beg.

And then Rumpelstiltskin would finally give up his control over the singing wish, and he would sing a pained lament about losing his son. Hook would run away from the cell because in some ways the song reminded him of his own pain.

You hated my father so much, you didn’t even realize you were just like him.

I’m so happy that for once, the Hook centrics have Gold/Hook scenes in them. Even if they are with Wish Hook.

So fucking happy.
