I was gonna wait for a reply but u got blocked :/ I'm sorry you like to speak out of place and on topics that you know nothing about.
You don’t know me or my life or my thoughts. Just like I can’t assume anything about you or the way you approach this.
As both a female and an actively studying healthcare provider, it is my place to speak out on this issue. This effects me on both levels. I need to be able to tell if a pt has symptoms more aligned with heart failure than with pinched brachial plexus. I need to know the pt’s sex to have a guide of where to look for their arterial blockage. If a trans women tells me they are female and they are passing, I will look for blockages in all the wrong places meanwhile my pt is suffering. I’m well aware that there are practicing healthcare providers who will actively judge a trans individual and allow that gender misunderstanding to cloud their diagnosis. My ideals and my values will impact me, too. But I personally will do my best to advocate for every patient I have.
Sex is a simple concept to me. Gender is not. Gender isn’t easy to define and it shouldn’t be. Gender isn’t simple boxes with simple labels. It’s constructs, socially ingrained behaviors, thought patters, speech. Gender varies from culture, from past to present, to household, to individual. Gender is a mess that I can’t even begin to explain without running into “but what if”. I’m not too proud to admit that. I don’t have all the answers. I do the best with what I have.
But I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask trans women to stay out of female healthcare. Female bodies are different than male bodies. Not better, not inferior, just different.
I won’t be responding to anything else you send me because nothing will come of it from either of us. I hope you have a nice night! c:
