i havent touched EITHER of them for a while bc i hit a wall i hit often when trying to write fic of certain kinds of media and i think ive finally figured out why

when i'm writing fic of tv shows/movies i feel like because there isn't a Narrative Voice of the show the way there is for books it can be muuuuch harder for me to hit a tone where my writing feels cohesive with the original media and i tend to get frustrated bc the narrative sounds like Mine instead of part of The Story if that makes sense. when im HYPER familiar with a show like red dwarf i can kinda find that tone p easily but when its a media im not as honed in on i feel like i really struggle to Sound Right

i know this isnt Actually A Problem but its a thing thats pulled me out of the moment reading fics of tv shows occasionally and when i see it in my own writing i tend to get too frustrated with myself to continue which is what happened here

anyway uhh heres a snippet of Untitled Zuko And Aang's Big Gay Road Trip Fic

"...I get the nightmares too." Aang admitted softly, after enough time had passed that Zuko almost thought he was asleep. He looked over in surprise, barely enough light left to see the outlined curves of the sad, distant look on Aang's face. "Not as often as I used to, but... a lot." Zuko nodded, rolling to face Aang again. "Do you... want to talk about them?" He asked softly, failing to discern any subtle changes in Aang's face in the low light. Their voices had dropped even lower, a soft whisper only meant to fill the space between their two bedrolls. "I never talk about mine, but Sokka once told me talking to Suki helps." The outline of Aang's cheek shifted just enough that Zuko could intuit the small smile his mouth must be curling into. "He's told me that too." The curve of Aang's cheek faded as he drifted into thought. "It's... different every time. Sometimes it's the fight with Ozai, sometimes it's being possessed during the fight at the Northern Water Tribe." A tiny instinctive flash of fear sparked through Zuko at the memory. "Sometimes it's the first time I visited my home, when... when we found the bodies." Aang's voice cracked and trailed off, and Zuko was reaching out before he was even thinking, resting one hand on Aang's for comfort. The line of his cheek curved again, and Zuko felt a grateful squeeze on his hand. "Sometimes it's you." Aang admitted softly. "Never in a bad way though, not really. I... don't think I was ever actually scared of you. Sorry." He added, sounding sheepish enough that Zuko couldn't hold in a small laugh.

i think bingqiu are a couple of alternate universes away from being reynolds and alma from phantom thread, or perhaps the reverse. binghe would poison sqq to keep him close, and i believe sqq would think it's kinda cute after the initial shock.

unfortunately i have never heard of phantom thread but binghe literally did this (blood parasites) so you are definitely right about that. i don't think sqq found it that cute at the time but he's very endeared by a lot of objectively horrific behaviour from binghe so there's definitely a world where he's like "aww babe you drugged my food because you missed me? 😊" (or whatever they do in that film) although it would have to be, as you say, a couple of alternate universes away

edit: i read the plot summary of phantom thread and i no longer think i agree that they are analogous to bingqiu because it does not sound like reynolds and alma are Wife Guys toward each other the way that bingqiu are. amongst their many dysfunctionalities, bickering has never been one of them. HOWEVER i think there could be a fascinating bingjiu AU to be found in there somewhere if you’re into that sort of thing

i rested all day yesterday and my mom is watching me like a HAWK so i rest today as well too, jus so i dont strain or shock my body. still, after that one day of rest, im feeling a whole lot better physically.....everything that isnt physical about me is on fire tho and not happy that i was outta commission for one day and will be out for another as well, hahhaahhhaaAAAAAAAAA but i'll figure that out.

omg I didn’t realize that I had even had asks!!! for that, I’m sorry to everyone including you but more importantly, I’m soooo sorry to read that you have still’s disease as well. ugghh still’s is such painful disease and it’s also so rare + misunderstood.

if you don’t mind me asking, how functional are you rn? even a episodic/mild case of this disease is ROUGH and would shock most people in/outside the medical community (sadly including specialists, particularly pediatric rheumatologists) so I’m definitely not thinking that functional is synonymous with completely being free of pain or even free of fever/rashes. just curious and hopeful for you.
