IF HE’S being entirely honest, there’s part of him that always sort of wondered if loras hated him. not that the boy was particularly cruel, but he seemed a bit like ELIO. aloof and somewhat self-concerned. which--- well, people tended to think elio hated them too, so that was probably it. but despite this, elio had never stopped thinking the other was anything short of BEAUTIFUL. he just admired it silently and through his music. through glances as his fingers plucked along his guitar. would he ever cease to be so terrible at openly admiring someone? 

well, apparently yes. because as they stood there, bickering on the trail path to the beach, as the rain had suddenly pounded down around them, elio could no longer contain himself. he reached up to grab loras by the jaw and almost aggressively kissed the other boy, pressing his lips to his as if to say, ‘there. now i’ve done this and you must live with the knowledge of how i feel.’

The Knight of Flowers was still half a boy, arrogant and vain, but he had it in him to be great, to perform deeds worthy of the White Book.

"Are you truly asking me for reassurance now?" Elio asked, grinning, clearly amused by the question asked by Loras. "I thought you would have enough self-esteem and confidence in your abilities to not have to ask that."

Taking a few steps forwards, coming to a halt in front of Loras he reaches out to tuck a strand of hair behind his ear. Does he even realize how beautiful he is? How many people would want to be in his shoes just to have kissed him? His heart hopes for more even if his mind tells him not to count on it.

"Of course I will remember you. How could I ever forget?"

Precisely the warm reception he had been expecting among the filth soaked walls and stone floors of King's Landing — in truth , it was been as it always had been. No smiles welcomed the sight of the gilded lion through the piss laden streets following the slaying of Aerys Targaryen , and now no smiles were present in the Red Keep following Jaime Lannister's return with a proper maiming. The eyes of boys and knights void of respect , a father who continued to play the role of puppet master , a sister with heart consumed with animosity and loss instead of desire , and . . the arrogance of a boy donned in white. Servant and kingsguard alike stared at the void which was formerly his sword hand , and when Jaime's emerald eyes found their face everyone was quick to wrench gaze away. They touched fire. They saw a malformed monster. Only the maesters acted with decorum , yet it was a cold decorum like a hunter gutting a deer. Even bathed , scrubbed , and dressed in proper clothing , there was no cleaning the stump of an arm nor the removal of exhaustion from features. The Tyrell @goldenngore , of course, still held the beauty of naivety and youth even when he spewed such cruel and blunt words. Hand moved to rest on the hilt of his sheathed sword . . only to recall there was no hand to lay upon his weapon. It was enough to bring down his ego several rungs if entirely plausible still. Jaime smiled , and Jaime laughed. There was no purity in the act ; a sad man laughing at his sad existence. Regardless , it felt good to do something other than argue and groan.

No bitterness was present in words despite the bitterness filling his belly. It would have been easy to snarl something nasty in the boy's face , but nothing Jaime did as of late was easy nor predictable.
