Silas sat in his office clearing up his desk for the day. It was getting late and he tended to try and make appearances on the guest floor when things got dark. It pleased customers to see the man running this place, made them feel like it was an up and up establishment.

He stood, ready to leave when one of his workers from downstairs knocked on the door.

“Sir? We have another one here to see you.”

Odd, there’d been a lot of those lately...

“Alright. Send them in.”

     “Hmn. . . looks like somebody WANDERED quite far from home.” It’s not OFTEN there are humans nearby his abode--or even in the general vicinity. He chose that place for that exact reason. Still, it seems this one has wandered close. Like a moth to a FLAME.      Marik begins a circle around Ryou, smirking, “Not often many wander out this far from the city~” Not that he minds. It’s enjoyable to have visitors, prey coming to him. Yet, he won’t right away attack, not with this one. . .

The Awkward Text

Yugi stared at his phone, his thumb pressed on the text box as he hesitated. He was sending out texts to thank everyone for coming to his party the day before, but was having difficulty finding the words to say to Ryou specifically. He'd been his new-year's kiss when the clock had struck 12, and Yugi couldn't help but think he deserved more than just a plain old "thanks for coming", but he was at a loss. His face was bright red as he kept typing and deleting his message over and over, losing and regaining his confidence repeatedly.

Draft 1: “Hey! Thanks for coming to my party <3″ delete, delete, no no, the heart is too much. That would be too weird.

Draft 2: “Hey Ryou, I’m so thankful you were able to make it to my party--” No, not that either. Too formal. Also weird. Gah, what do I say!?

At long last, and after many more failed attempts to generate a sufficient message, he sent one.

[TEXT]: Thanks so much for coming to my party! It was great to see you. Would you maybe wanna hang out again sometime soon?

After he hit send, his heart rate picked up even further and he found himself unable to tear his gaze away from his phone screen, even after setting it down on the table. Message sent. Why was he so anxious? Surely this wasn’t a big deal, right?

          This boy, he did not understand that he did not need his assistance or his attention. He narrowed his eyes at the boy, the shadows behind him writhing around the hem of his coat.  ❝ Yadonushi, I need not you by my side now or any other time. ❞ Ruby hues formed into that snake like slits, warning the boy that this was not a warning.... but a promise.

I have a lot of thots™ abt these boys. The first being that I love them, the second that this ship should be more popular than it is.  😔I say this because I really think there's a lot to be explored. They both carry a lot of pain and anger due to childhood trauma. They've never known anything else. I'd even go as far to say the perhaps controversial statement that TKB and Yamima have more in common than thief in this regard. Or that, perhaps, yb and malik are to eachother as tkb and yamima are. They've both seen themselves on the deranged end of vengeance - seeking retribution from the same pharaoh in similar ways. And failing. There's so many ways their relationship could play out, au dependant. But I want to see them be vulnerable with eachother - and meet eachother at the same level of pain and work through it together. And to be angry together. And find vindication in their shared anger. And then move on together.
