Her body ached.
It would be no exaggeration to say that that final battle with Lace had been a close one. Furthermore, as the Everbloom had faded, the Void had nearly drained her of her being...if not for her sibling. Well, the gate would well have closed, but both she and Lace would have been lost forever.
Yet the despite the ache Hornet continued ever forward, sometimes having to tug Lace along. She hadn't the faintest idea of what to make of her, of their situation, but one thing was certain: she refused to see one who's existence reminded her so much of her siblings be cast off in such a manner.
Unfortunately, through their trek in Deep Docks, Lace had parted ways from her without a word. It brought a hint of worry and frustration to the weaver, but whatever Lace chose to do now was up to her....
Instead Hornet turned her path to the nearest settlement, hoping to find things better than she had left them. Through Deep Docks she passed through the Marrow and finally back into Bone Bottom.
It was a mess to put to lightly but...not unsalvageable. With the black tendrils of that otherworldly abyss gone, more and more bugs were starting to come out of their hiding places. Hornet was relieved to see Flick still alive and she helped him from out of some rubble before turning to go to the next bug.
It was only until her tarsi gave out from under her that she finally stopped, exhaustion finally beginning to catch up with her.
